Okay, so I'm told the best way to get an accurate calorie burn rate, is to use a heart rate monitor..........so I need guidance....which is the best brand, best one, to buy? what do you recommend and why?

read this - you'll be glad you did! I have a Polar FT4 and I love it......after reading this article, I wished I had paid $20 more and gotten one with slightly more features. Keeping in mind, HRM's are still not 100% BUT for me they are great, since no database I've ever used is right
for my money - try the Polar FT 4 or 7. But no matter what get one with a chest strap!
Don't forget to read this MFP blog too!0 -
I use a Polar FT4.
It was the cheapest model that met my basic needs i.e. continuous monitoring vs having to hold still and touch the thing for a few seconds in order to get a reading, calories burnt and a zone alarm (too high or too low).
The strap is elastic vice hard plastic and is washable. The batteries in the watch and the transmitter are user replaceable.
I tried a strapless Sportline for a few weeks but hated it and got the Polar instead.0
