Plantar Fasciitis?

I've been doing lots of running and the last week or two I've noticed some pains on my right inner ankle.
Also on top of my ankle it's tender. I try to give myself rest on the weekends but during the week I am trying to push as hard as I can. I am thinking I should lay off of it completely but this working out thing is becoming habit forming and I feel like I am missing out if I don't do anything mon-fri..
My question is do any of you have these ailments? If so what did you do to heal it.
I am going to ice it down for now and was looking to buy a night splint to see if that fixes my problems.

If nothing else, try RICE
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevate
But remember, any kind of soft tissue damage will not heal until you stay off of it long enough. Its better to take a few days off now then wait and end up taking a month off later.0 -

Dude i had the worst PF, buy a night splint on ebay (black plastic L shaped against the back of your leg, bright blue cushion) about $30.00 and the best investment ever. also roll your foot where it hurts on a golf ball for about 5 min then ice it for 20 min a couple times a day. I seen a Doc and this works!! I still where the night splint because it works and don't bother me, might suck a little in the beginning.
Guaranteed ( i thought i would need surgery) also no flip flops and get light weight running shoes, mine was caused by those reebok ZigTech shoes so don't get them0 -
Do you have flat feet? I see a podiatrist for my flat feet and he prescribed me custom-fitted orthotics. They helped a lot. Insurance used to cover the $400+ cost of these devices but not so much anymore. You probably want to call to find out.
If they don't, Dr Scholl's has this orthotics kiosks that evaluates which of their orthotics work best for you. They tend to cost about $50, I think. You can check the Dr Scholl's website for the nearest kiosk. Walmart is the closest one to me.
If you have heel spurs (I think that's plantar fascitis) then there's a night splint that you wear to sleep. This splint keeps your toes and ankle at a right angle while you sleep. You can buy these on Amazon. Good luck!0 -
Congrats on your fantastic weight loss so far :-)
I think I would try to give your ankle a bit of a rest ,as you think yourself. Maybe try to go for upperbody trainingfor a little while, so you don`t feel like you are not trying anymore?
My husband does mega triathlons (Ironman) and one of his knees is really bad because he constantly runs and will not rest. He wears an elastic support everyday but I think he will end with a replacement knee because of it.
I think sometimes you can be so dedicated to doing exercise that it can work against you in the long run (no pun intended)
Good luck x0 -
Plantar Fasciitis would actually be felt more in your heel / arch of your foot. If you are in pain, do not push yourself over your limit. Is your ankle swollen? If not, it could just be the soreness of your ankles and you just need to strengthen them. If you think its worse, I would put the running aside and try something on the less impact (i.e. biking or swimming) and talk to a doctor.
If you do have Plantar Fasciitis, get running shoes at a running store where they can fit you for your foot and make sure you receive the right inserts. I have Plantar myself (in both feet) and was actually told never to run, but of course I love it. So I just make sure I always have the best shoes on my feet. Also no flat flip flops (i.e. the cheap ones from Old Navy).
Take care of those feet!0 -
I can only wear new balance shoes. No huge problems since starting on them. I have runners and hikers. If I do wear sandals, it's Birkenstocks.0

Thanks everyone! I am about 90% and will hit the gym hard back on Monday. Two more days of icing and Tiger Balming should do the trick.0
