Hi - I am a new member and I am not clear on the exercise part. I started with exercise first and am on my 10th week riding a stationary bike. I am up to 60 minutes every morning for 6 days a week. I log in 15.0 to 15.5 miles during my 60 minutes so that is also 15.0 to 15.5 miles per hour in speed, or vigorous exercise. When I log in the exercise on my plan here - it says that is 900+ calories and it adds that to my food total of 1550 ish food calories -- I am not really to be eating that many calories - so how do I figure that in?

During the past nine weeks I have lost 9 pounds. That makes me happy - but it seems like with the exercise I am doing I would drop more than 1 pound a week.

Anyone with experience in this area that can enlighten me?

Thanks!

With all that exercise your weight loss might be slow (although 1 pound a week is considered healthy and just fine) because you're not giving your body enough calories. I eat every one of my exercise calories back most days and I've been losing 2 pounds a week since I joined. I am not obese.

Your body will hang on to the weight if it's not getting enough calories. At least that's what people say! Who knows the deep mysteries of weight loss. Plus everyone is different.

But welcome to MFP! It's so awesome.
