Advice for a mesomorph?

So after years of going against my body type and attempting to achieve the unattainable goal of making my body lean and skinny, I've finally accepted my mesomorph status. I don't want to be mega-strong, just strong enough, ya know? Six pack abs would be awesome! =]

Does anyone have any advice on what I should eat, how I should eat, and what exercises I should do to really take advantage of my natural strength in order to lose some fat?

I'm 20, 5'2", and currently 125. I was hoping to get down to 115, but I guess that's out the window now, eh?

Thank you!!

I'm not really sure what you mean by it being impossible, I'm a mesomorph, 35, 5'2" and currently weigh 113. I build muscle really easily, and benefit a lot from fairly minimal strength training. My highest weight was 135.

I generally eat really clean (this week is a bad example, though!), try to keep my sodium intake low, eat plenty of complex carbs for energy, and don't drink anything but tea, water, and wine. My diary is open if you wanna look at it - I'm not saying it's always the best because I am super busy right now, but I do usually try to eat vegetarian 4 or more days a week, too... I've just been on a beef bender this week! Also would not recommend consuming as much wine as I do :drinker:

Oh good! I'm glad I was wrong about that whole "impossible" thing; maybe I've just been doing strength training wrong. I've been using 10 pound weights- maybe I'll switch to 5. Thank you!

And hey, a little wine never hurt anybody =]

A mesomorph body type has the best of both worlds, and can usually easily lose weight like an ectomorph, and gain muscle easily similar to an endomorph, so you should be able to do it. I would not go lower in weights. If anything, I would go higher (when you feel ready), or stay where you are. It's not really our weight that we need to focus so much on. You can get the body type you want by doing strength-training and cardio. So you can LOOK like you weigh 118 pounds, but also have a toned physique, instead of just a skinny one with no muscle tone. Am I making sense here? lol. Building some muscle will help burn more calories, thus helping you stay slender. Don't be afraid you will bulk up. It takes far more than what you would think for a woman to bulk up.
