Question for the low carbers

2 questions, actually:
I've seen a few posts on the forums about not counting sugar because carbs are part of sugar intake anyway. I currently count sugar (<25g) as well as carbs, but I'm curious if you think it's unnecessary to do both.
My other concern (if you will) is net carbs. I just recently decided to track fiber instead of fat but I usually don't pay it much attention and go by total carbs instead of net carbs. Do you notice a difference when you track net carbs over total carbs and vice versa, or are the results the same?
Thank you for your input.

I think that if you are concerned about "good carbs" vs. "bad carbs," I would avoid all sugar. Sugar is pretty much the worst Bad Carb.
As far as net carbs vs. actual carbs, I can't really comment on that. My doctor told me to eat no more than 30 carbs a day, and that's actual carbs, not net carbs. He said net carbs are really hard to calculate accurately, anyway, and I should just make sure that the 30-or-fewer carbs I do get are "good carbs." But I have hyperinsulinemia, and his recommendations are based on that, so I have no idea what's healthy for a normal person.0 -
