HRM Advice?

I really want to purchase a HRM fairly soon, but I don't want to buy one and not be happy with it. I also am aware they are not cheap, which is all the more reason to find a really good one. The Polar brand seems to be the most popular. I just want it to calculate the cals burned during my workouts, it doesn't really have to do anything else.

Any suggestions? ...

Thanks!! :flowerforyou:

I used my new Polar FT4 for the first time this morning. It was very easy to set up and it was nice to see where my heart rate was anytime during my run. I'm very happy with it so far. I debated getting the more expensive FT7 but where I just want to know where I consistently am in my heart rate and the calories burned, the FT4 seems to have all I need. Hope this helps!

Love my Polar. I've had it for four years, and it is reliable and I use the timer and stopwatch all the time too.

$100 is not a lot to spend for what I consider to be the best exercise gadget I've bought to date. That's $25 a year (so far).

    $2 a month.

Most on here will recommend the Polar FT4 or FT7. I have a Suunto T3d, suggested by my trainer. Most of my friends have the same, and we are all very happy with the performance. I can track my time, calories, max and average HR, and do splits. All I need from it.

I had a Garmin 405cx, and it was overkill for me. Yah, it was neat to see the map of my outdoor runs and hikes afterwards, but it was complicated, the charging sucked, and after I ran the software update, it crapped out a lot. Ended up returning it for the Suunto.

If your just looking for calories burned the Polar FT4 or FT7 should work just fine.. Both are easy to use/set up and cost under a hundred dollars.
