What point do you say no to running?

Right, so i have this programme to get you running a mile in four weeks. I want to start it - i have finally found an armband for my iphone so i can run without issues of where to put it. But this leaves me with three major questions.
1 - what time in the morning is the best to go running? I am very concious of people watching and making fun of me. I am not a runner and im certainly not slim. So if i said i got up to go running in the morning - what time would be ideal?
2 - what point do you cancel a run cause of the rain? I mean if its spitting, i would go like, but if its hammering down - do you go or not ?
3 - stupid question - anything in particular to wear? I know a sporta bra is good, with a t shirt, running trainers and probably a jumper due to it being chilly and my worry about my phone in my arm band. BUT - can you wear short jogger things? Shorts or traky bottoms? What is best for a uk size 16 woman????
I thank you all in advance for your advice, i wish to start running Monday so i need answers - thanks!

1. Depends on what you like... early in the morning is probably cooler, but I am just not a morning person so I usually run at night. Let people look ... they are likely wishing they had the guts to get out there. In the last year I have never heard one negative comment and trust me I was huge when I started.
2. I run in just about anything... it again depends on your tolerance. I loooove running in the rain ... it actually keeps me cooler and happier. Lightning and thunder I would probably say home... I should tell you hail I would stay home, but I have run in hail many many times! I have run in snow, pouring rain... its fun!
3. I wear Nike Capris ... and a technical t shirt... I started runnnng in mesh cpris (baggy) and a cotton tank top... as I increased my distance I realized that I needed better clothes and I traded up ... you need good shoes though... ideally fitted at a running store for your gait...
You can do this ... its amazing to realize that what used to be impossible is now possible. I used to get short of breath running for 15 seconds... and now I do half marathons!0 -

1) the time that works for you personally is completely dependent on you if you're a morning person and early morning run when it's quiet and not a lot of people around would be ideal...me personally, I hate running in the AM although I sometimes do it because of schedule issues...but it is not when I am at my best.
2) if you have good shoes and it's not thundering and lightning outside, it's ok to run in the rain...just be careful and be aware that if you're running outside near any traffic, their visibility may be lessened. Be safe!
3) I don't know what a UK size 16 is, but a US size 16 is the size I was when I started running (I'm now down to a 10-12)....and just wear whatever you want that makes YOU comfortable. You are fine with a tee shirt and shorts or sweat or "track" pants, but a good sports bra (if you're "well endowed) is recommended...and good running shoes (trainers?) are a must
I have bought a few "dri tech" items that supposedly wick the sweat away, unlike cotton...but most of the time I am in an old cotton tee shirt and nylon running shorts...
to become a runner...you kind of have to get to a point where you don't care what you look like for me running felt very awkward at first and I was very self conscious, but I've found that when I am out running no one is looking at me, really...if I run at a park others may nod and smile as we pass each other by, but most people are busy doing their own thing.
Good luck! (and you might want to keep in mind that if you are overweight and out of shape (haven't exercised in a long time) that it may take more than 4 weeks to complete a beginning running program...it took me about 3 months to get comfortable with running...that was 3 months ago and I LOVE it0 -
yes, i dont know why it posted twice, i only clicked it once....thanks for the words!0

1) If you are out there running NO BODY is going to say anything discouraging. I started running at just under 200 lbs and never once have I gotten any negative comments or looks. You should go running whenever it is best for YOU...let temperature and other commitments be a determining factor not others opinions!
2) never---running in the rain is hands down the BEST time to run! I've even run in hail before (wear a hat)
3 wear whatever is comfortable to you. when i first stated, my upper thighs would rub together and it was uncomfortable so i wore capris or pants. Now i wear loose nike shorts. A sports bra is a MUST...get a good one (or two). I was very large chested at first but the girls have gotten smaller lately.
oh...getting fitted for proper shoes is of upmost importance!!!!! i cannot reiterate this enough. even if you end up buying them online later, go to a store and get professionally fitted...itll avoid painful set backs later!
Good luck and feel free to add me as a friend. I also have lots of blogs about running :-)

When I see people running outside, I am either envious because they have better form (and muscles!) than me or I am impressed because they are working so hard...The other day I was driving home from work and saw a woman jogging very slowly on the sidewalk, her size and effort reminded me of me when I first started running...and I wanted to wave out the window and cheer her on but I was afraid she'd freak out0
