I am curious what the community thinks of the adjustable weight dumbells. You know the ones that you can select 5lb - 25lb. It seems for someone who has a crazy schedule and can't afford a gym membership to be a good alternative.

I actually just bought a pair of these today, although mine are the 10-50 powerblocks. I don't really have a crazy schedule, but I have a background in the military and pretty much all of our physical training could be accomplished with body weight. I've never really felt the need to spend tons of money every year on a gym membership when I could take care of myself without it. I've actually been doing the power 90 stuff from beach body the last 3 months with resistance bands, and after having two bands snap, I decided to go the dumbbell route because they dont take up much space, and I can do all of my workouts and more with just these. Add in running and the pull up bar in my doorway, and I've got a home gym that will last years at less than the cost of a year's gym membership. :)

I've also got the Powerblock 50s, and haven't had any issues with them. I bought them new, but have seen them on Craigslist every once in a while. I think Gold's makes a set as well.

I actually picked up the Gold's 5-25 set today. I have a lot of work to do to get back to needing more than 25's but it's good to know that I didn't waste my money. Thanks.
