Harry Potter Fans - What do you think?

I think J.K. Rowling needs to write a Harry Potter spin off, but not a tacky one. I want the series to follow Voldemort's first uprising - potentially through the eyes of Lily Potter? What do you guys think?

I think it could be a dark, more adult version that follows Lily from right after Hogwarts to her death...

Maybe I am just obsessed with Lily Potter...

    I was just telling a friend the other day (after I'd seen the movie) that I would love to see JK Rowling write some spin offs, that would be cool!
  • sounds interesting however, i still reckon harry should have died at the end.
    I hated him as a character.

    Am I the only one? :\

    I also think that Harry should have died. The epilogue made me throw up a little too

    You know, I love the HP books-- I think they're wonderful. I also enjoy the movies (because it provides ample opportunity to listen to Alan Rickman speak), but I'd really like to see Rowling stretch her imagination and write something non-Potter related. She's talented and imaginative enough. I teach a college class where we use the HP books as texts and many of my students have wanted to see her write other things with similar themes. We'll see how long before she does that, though.

    I always thought it would have been interesting if it ended (after he kills Voldy), with him waking up in the cupboard under the stairs. Which would have killed my soul, but also made for an interesting ending.

    I want to see the story through Voldy's or Snape's eyes. Yeah.

    To be honest, I'd like to read more about Sirius Black. And Dumbledore's career from when he first attended Hogwarts up through becoming headmaster. She could write spin-offs for the rest of her life and probably not cover all the bases. hahaha

    I loved HP... but I don't know about a spin-off. Too much of a good thing, you know? I think she's trying to accomodate everyone's opinion on this topic (yes and no to spin-offs) with Pottermore, where she'll sort of be giving us previously unheard of information on the world and characters. So that way we'll get more HP, but fans won't criticize her for "trying to make more money" when she publishes a book (and she also won't publish something sub-par!).

    And I know what ya'll mean about Harry dying - but of course he couldn't. This was, after all, a children's book! And thank god he didn't die! Someone had to kill Voldemort (;

    Epilogue did suck, however, I was glad that it was so unimaginative and boring. If it had ended without the epilogue, we all would have been downright DYING that the series was over. "But what happens to Harry!??!?!?!?!" The epilogue sort of showed us how boring his life was 19 years later - he was normal! It made the ending so much easier for me to take. Whelp, don't really care about Harry's domestic life, guess there's nothing more to see here. Close the book. Move on to Twilight (;

    I've always wished she's do a prequel, kind of like how Star Wars was done (i.e. the movies) to show the back story. Lots of Snape!

    Granted, she doesn't have to work another day in her life, but with all the wonderful and interesting things rattling in her head, she could do another series.

    We can always hope. :)

    I would have hated for him to have woken up under the stairs and was like ohhhh it was all a dream, such a crap way to end something IMO.

    I don't think he should've died, but the epilogue was SO stupid. It was much better in the movie than in the book, though.
