Making a commitment to FIGHT this BATTLE....

How do you KNOW you are ready to lose weight and will not let temptations drive you again?

How do you know YOU KNOW you are ready?

Every once and a while I get this binge urge, I fight it off well, but every now and then my mind escapes to another place and I start to mindlessly eat...not to the point of binging though. I will overeat something, or have indulgences.

These temptations are not helping me lose weight.

I have been through this battle for a while, and the other night I caved and ate horribly. Like 3,500 cals for that day. I thought to myself the next day, "Okay I got this..I can get back on track right now and just eat better".

"I will RE-commit myself right now."

I was able to get back on track, but just looking back at that night, I think to myself, "gee, what does it take for me to STOP it already and quit it with the indulging and overeating?" How many times do I have to keep putting myself back on track? I just need to commit to my goals once and for all and stop it with the "restarting", "re-committing" .

I have begun the process of taking out temptations from my home and keeping myself more mindful of the things I do and eat.

It's just times like the other night that make me feel bad, and want to analyze myself...

Am I really committed this time?

I have this same problem :(

At the moment I am trying to make sure I eat at least 3 meals a day and make sure they are proper meals so I avoid getting too hungry (I often skip meals) and drink plenty of water (which seems to keep me full ... although I find it hard)

So far it seems to be helping. I will follow this thread for any good advice. Thanks for asking the question

Cleaning out the house is a good start. Add quick healthy snacks (sweet, salty, fruity) to grab instead. Allow yourself at least one day/week that it is ok to eat whatever withouth the "you" being your worst critic. Add more EFAs (essential fatty acids) to your diet. These help with cravings as often times your body's cravings are related to lack of nutrients in your body. As many of the EFAs are only obtained from food, it makes sense that your body will cause hunger in order to get these nutrients. Make sure that you eat every 3-4hrs to help prevent from being hungry. Make sure you are eating proteins and fiber - it is much less worrisome to go over this site's recommendations on these 2 macronutrients than any of the others. Hope this helps!

These are all things I know I should be doing...I just needed a slap on the wrist, a wake up call, someone's voice to help me snap back into reason....

I am recommitted again...and I'm going to make it work this time!

Thank you immensly for your words :)
