I'm about to start my first time as being a full-time college student (it was part-time school and work for 4 years).

I have always had a hard time fitting in exercise into my crazy study schedule, but I'm planning for it to be different this time. I have already registered for classes, made a study schedule, and I've included a workout schedule which gives me time to shower and get a snack afterwards so I don't have to rush to class. I'm a commuting student, so I'll be exercising at school 2 days and home 2 days.

I would like for this thread to be about how we can plan ahead to stay on track while we are exercising our brains.

One thing I am planning on doing to make it easier for me is rent a locker at school and leave workout stuff there so as to not have to tote it back and forth.

Let's get our list started!

When I went back to school full time, I took a workout class. It was just an open gym class, where I could show up whenever it worked for me, but I HAD to average 3 workouts a week. For a grade! I'm a bit nuts about my GPA, so an A+ was mandatory for me. That helped me get in the habit.

    Good luck!

  • I can relate.......after being in school for 2 years I have gained about 15 pounds. This summer, and with the help of all my wonderful MFP friends I was able to lose it and get into shape. I start school again in a few weeks and I have got to be disiplined to keep exercise in my schedule even though there's not much time. I have to make it a priority.
    Good luck to you:)

That's a good idea. I should see if they have something like that at my school.

Do you make a study schedule? I find that helps me manage my time better.

I am a graduate student, and I used to ride my bike to and from campus when I was teaching for exercise. However, this semester I staying at home and working on my dissertation, so I have no need to go to campus except for meetings, etc. I have been thinking about this EXACT topic, trying to figure out how I'm going to make exercise part of my daily routine. The only solution I have to far is to just do it every morning after breakfast and start my day later, which means that I will work until later in the evening. I'm curious to hear peoples' responses! Maybe I can get some better ideas...

Being a student you're always broke, so it helps to save money AND burn fat if you walk everywhere instead of getting the bus/driving. Plus yknow you're living on nothing but baked beans straight out the tin :P

LOL. Well, maybe for younger college students. Fortunately, I have a husband to support me. :)
