NSV - non scale victory, something good other than lower scale numbers!

Bump, I think that logs the thread in your profile so you can find it easier at a later date, but I may be wrong :)

I asked that same first question a few weeks back. NSV = non-scale victory. Like fitting into something you couldn't before - a win that doesn't have to do w/ the scale. Being satisfied w/a smaller serving, etc. bump = bumping up the thread. As new threads are started, the other ones fall lower down. But just entering "bump" as an entry, it bumps the thread back up to the top.
  • bump, if someone has a thread (a post on a message board) and the thread moves down the page as more people post more new threads, people add the word 'bump' as it 'bumps' the thread onto the top of the board. Does that make sense?

NSV = non scale victory i.e. not related to weighing your self - someone says you look good, clothes are loose etc

Bump = keeping the thread up the list to read or comment on later.

Took me ages to work them out!
  • NVS = Non scale victory...

When the scale reads the same but your clothes fit better. Someone says something nice at the gym... With weight fluxuations people here look to other forms of reinforcements that there hard work is paying off...

Bumb... is a new one to me. (This is my first week)

:) Hope that was helpful! I'll check back to see what "bump" means myself... Maybe its like a high five? "fist bump" kinda thing?

--- Hahaha you have to be quick here! I see people have already replied!

NSV = No Soup pour Vous, which is (very loosely) translated from a French dubbed episode of Seinfeld.

bump = those things in the road that they put down to keep you from driving too fast.

I know, I had the same questions when I first joined, but luckily I was able to figure it out on my own... :)

It sounds like NSV and bump have been covered. As for other advice? Before you post a new topic, "search" the message boards for the topic you want to post about. There's a good chance someone has already asked it, and it can be annoying to see the same question (e.g. "should I eat my exercise calories?") 100 times a day.

Welcome, and good luck to you.

    Ha...must laugh at myself...

Trying to figure out what "bump" meant from context, I decided it must be the written equivalent of a fist bump, a shorthand way of saying, "Yeah, dude, I agree, good point."

Which, I guess, it kind of is...
