i have just started training again after a very long break (nearly a year)
I have used the treadmill a few times but found it very hard going, so I ventured outside running through the country lanes with the dog. I am not saying it was easy but I managed nearly three times the distance while running outside (11k). Today because of the bad weather I trained on the treadmill and only managed a 3 k run, again this was very hard going. Also outside I am running on average a 10 minute mile, while on the tradmill I am running a 12 - 13 minute mile. Don't know why, so I am writing myself a training plan incorporating the treadmill, with the cross trainer and sit ups when the weather is bad and runs of around 10k outside when the weather is more favouable. Does anybody else experience this or is it just me.

I run much slower on the treadmill than outside so no you're not alone.

I'm the same! If I'm doing distance I'm better outside. I only like to use the treadmill for sprinting
