Hi all,

just a quick question....i have a shocking metabolism due to not eating enough...i never have breakfast ( i'm trying to train myself to eat it though) & i pretty much just eat dinner, and dinner isnt by any way a huge meal incase you were wondering, lol. I've been tracking my food on here & i'm eating about 600 calories a day, with a spare 900 left over!
I'm wondering how i would kick start my metabolism besides having breakfast...Is there any foods out there that will help with this situation.
And when it comes to vitamins, what would you recommend as being the best.....A friend told me to get vitamin B tablets...I have no idea about vitamins, so i'm pretty clueless on where to start.. Cheers :drinker:

well the best way to lose weight is by eating a good breakfast.. I know you said to do other stuff, but I am not going to advise you to do anything else because eating breakfast is the m ost important thing you can do to lose weight... and also you need to eat at least 1200 calories.... I can help you with choosing foods if you decide to eat breakfast :)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Others may have their own opinions, but I can only share what has worked for me. I was stuck on a plateau for months. I rarely had breakfast but decided it was time to change things up. Up until that point I had dropped some weight slowly. But after making breakfast my biggest meal of the day, I dropped a little less than 10 pounds in 3 weeks. I blogged about it in the link under my ticker called My Journey. You're off to a great start! Good luck!
  • I was eating about 900-ish calories a day before I started using MFP and losing a little weight, but not a lot. I often skipped breakfast, too.

After reading the forums here and getting a lot of compelling evidence that eating 1200 calories a day is reallllllly important, I've been doing it for 15 days straight and making sure to have at least 150 calories for breakfast (hard for me, I'm never hungry in the morning)..the weight has been falling off. I've lost 8 lbs in the couple of weeks I've been using MFP. I was just misinformed before about how the body works.Still have lots to learn and a long way to go and I'm sure I'll figure some other things out along the way but those two things are extremely important.

Eat your calories and eat breakfast!

Breakfast is a good start to firing up your metabolism! I would also suggest you eat something every 3 hours, doesn't have to be a lot, but a source of protein and complex carb. Eat *at least* 1200 calories, and start exercising. Weight training will really up your metabolism, but start slow, once or twice a week if you are out of shape or haven't trained before. A good multivitamin with extra B vitamins would be great (I like Twin Lab with iron). It takes some time (and often weight fluctuations up and down) to reset your metabolism, but you can do it!!!:flowerforyou:

Yes breakfast is extremely important. But really the best thing to do is eat all the calories that you need. You said you want to kick start your metabolism, well that's the way to do it. from your post, it looks like you are set to have 1500 calories per day. So eat that many. But spread it out evenly. 5 meals, 300 calories each meal. eat the required protein and the fat. cut out carbs from bread, pasta, and rice. Your only carbs should be from fruit and vegetables. Do that consistently and in 2 weeks, you'll know that your metabolism is working right.

If you have 900 calories left over, than eat 900 more calories.
