I take showers on a daily basis but because my hair is colored red i try to only wash once, maybe twice a week to preserve the color longer but with trying to get my hour of exercise a day i sweat so much it needs to be washed every day and is killing my color. I'd really like not to have to change my color and hope some one might have had the same problem and found a solution.
please help?

Sorry, no help for you as I'm having the same problem. Prior to starting this journey I was doing the condition only method and really only shampooed my hair a couple times a month. Now after working out I feel so sweaty and nasty that I have to use shampoo.0

I've never tried it but I know they make a "spray in" waterless shampoo...perhaps that might be an option. Or perhaps baby shampoo? Maybe it will be gentler.0

you can try dry shampoo, but if you're working out that hard, you may just have to wash it.0

Just wash your hair.0

For red hair, try washing your hair in water as cool as you can stand. That will help a little in preserving the color. Also make sure you are using a shampoo/conditioner made for color treated hair. Hope that helps a little!0

Well u can can do wat every1 else sed on the blog or u can just wear a shower cap and wash the rest of ur body. I mean ur body sweats more then ur head, so just wash ur body with soap or wat and not ur head.0 -
OK, go to Sally's beauty supply, and in their hair color section, you may have to ask for help to find it, look for protein filler. It comes in basic colors and its made to be used by itself 2-3 weeks after a dye or with your dye, either way.
Also, dry shampoo will be useful as long as you don't have curly, coursely textured hair.0 -
I started just rinsing mine in water because I didn't want to wash it constantly - you need to be a little more thorough with it (at least wiht my thick hair I do) but you can get clean with just water.
I've seen people recommend a water/vinegar mix to pour over it at the end as a sort of conditioner - dunno what they would do for colored hair though.
You might need to just live with faded color through the summer while its hot and sweaty.0 -
Use shampoo and conditioner that does not contain sulfates - that is vital with red hair color. Just because it says it color or perm safe does not mean it is. Sulfates will kill any hair coloring, but particularly red. And always wash/rinse with cool to cold water to keep the color safe longer.......this is all info from my hair stylist at Toni & Guy Salon.0
