I watched the documentary Fat Head twice this past weekend and am making some changes. What is great is that, if it works and it is true, it's not some drastic unhappy lifestyle change I'm making. It is something I can actually live with.

I am 5'9'' and about 188 lbs. If you see me around town, I look like a normal guy. I play on 3 softball teams (in the outfield) and can run very fast. But, according to the government, I am borderline obese! That's because those idiots have no idea what they are talking about and pass laws to try and scare people. But I digress...

Anyways, I am in decent shape but want to lose about 10-15 pounds. I will be aiming for around 80-100g of Carbs a day and about 1800 calories. I started walking last night and hopefully I can keep with that on days I do not have softball games.
I also plan to stop eating low fat and low cholesterol foods.

If you have not seen the doc FAT HEAD, please please please watch it. It is funny! And educational :)

  • Fat Head is amazing. It's message is life changing. I can't believe what I used to do to my body and I am amazed by the change to my health since going high-fat.

If you haven't yet, you should check out Tom Naughton's blog: fathead-movie.com

    :)
  • I also loved FAT HEAD and changed my ratios after watching that, meeting with a nutritionist and reading all I could about IR and PCOS. It has worked. At 40% carbs I was gaining without exercise and maintaining with exercising. From last Oct-June I lost 3 pounds. Now, since changing my ratios to 45%protein/25%carbs/30%fat I've actually lost 19 lbs. AMAZING! Eating fat doesn't make you get fat!

Thanks for the blog Meganne I will check it out.

I just went on Netflix and watched this. Other than the fact that it says the movie is 104 minutes long but ends abruptly after just 88 minutes, I loved it. I'd already read Gary Taubes' book on why we get fat, so this wasn't all that new to me, but it reinforced what I'm trying to do. What amazes me is the number of people who watched the movie and said that Naughton is the one with the conflict of interest. People cling so hard to what they believe to be true so much of the time, regardless of the amount of evidence to the contrary that is presented to them. I hope the one doctor in the movie is right when he says that this disinformation will be on the trash heap of science within ten years.
