I always make myself a protein shake immediately after my work-outs. Almond milk, a scoop of Whey Protein, half a banana and a few strawberries - cool, refreshing and lots of protein.
It takes the edge off my hunger and keeps me going until lunch or supper time.0 -
I eat some Greek yogurt mixed with wheat germ after every strenuous cardio workout. Fat free and loaded with protein for a good post-workout snack. I eat this within twenty minutes of the workout's end whether hungry or not. I've found it to be a very satisfying way to refuel.0

yes protein!! Either shake or bar or even a chicken breat, greek yogurt any thing that has a great amount of protein is awesome after a work out!0

Drink at least 16oz of water
Chocolate milk (with fat free milk)
Egg whites with veggies / salsa and 1 slice whole grain bread0 -
After a workout, it is good to eat some protein, it helps the muscles recover. It can also make you feel fuller longer. I like to have Greek yogurt (has more protein than the ave yogurt) and add a little bit of granola!0

I workout just before lunch time so when I get done its a scedualed meal time anyway so I`m not really eatting anything extra plus I fallow up my workout with two 16.9oz bottles of water0

If I work out in the morning and haven't had breakfast first (my breakfast usually carries me well into lunch, regardless of when I eat it), then I just eat my normal breakfast.
If I work out in the afternoon before dinner, then I eat my normal dinner and then have a fruit smoothie (banana, mixed berries, chocolate peanut butter and ice). If I work out after dinner, then I follow the workout with my smoothie.0 -
(And an FYI, but I've read and been told by many, many different, reputable sources that a glass of chocolate milk is the best post-workout "snack.")0

After a muscly or strength workout, yay chocolate milk!
After a cardio session I'm usually craving carbs, so wholemeal toast with peanut butter, or small bowl of pasta with tuna.0 -
Zumba is mostly cardio but what is up with the chocolate milk? what does it do for your after workout (if that makes sense)? i have never heard of that. i guess i just need to do a little more planning. i usually am running to class not to be late then after class i run home to cook dinner.
also does the whey protein have a weird taste? i like benefiber because it has no taste and dissolve clear like the commerical states so it easy to put in anything. is it like that?0 -
Chocolate milk is an ideal combination of carbs and protein, which is recommended as a recovery combination after a workout.0

I always have a post workout snack which is a turkey sandwich on white bread0

Beef jerky! Its low cal, sometimes high in sodium, but a good amount of protein. Keeps me full for a while!0

You can get flavorless whey protein, and also flavored whey protein in an array of different flavors: chocolate, vanilla, chocolate mint, chocolate peanut butter, strawberry...you name it.
I use NSI's Whey Protein in vanilla. It doesn't have the *greatest* taste, but I usually add it to unsweetened almond milk, along with bananas and berries, and you can't really taste it much - just adds a nice sweetness.0 -
I always have a smoothie...usually something like ... spinach, banana, homemade yogurt, milk, orange juice, and ground flax seeds. sometimes adding strawberries or peaches or something else.0

Chocolate MIlk (1% or fat free) gets my vote. Also, please remember to replace your electrolytes (sodium and potassium) which are lost during yoru workout. Plain water is great but does not replace these extremely vital nutrients. A 50/50 intake (you don't have to actually mix them) of a sport drink and water is good. From a food perspective, any good lean protein source would be good. The protein will help build up the muscles that you just worked during your exercise program.0
