Would anyone recomend using protien Shakes for repairing after running/biking or strength training?
And if you do recomend them, which in particular? does it really matter which brand, do they all do the job? (ps needs to be strawberry flavoured, hate choc and banana flavoured drinks blugh!)
Cheers

Yes, I would recommend a protein/recovery shake after workouts. Everyone will argue which brand they love, which tastes better, which is better for you, etc. It will really come down to personal preference. Try a few out until you find one that you like the taste/texture of. Stick with Whey protein as it's best for muscle recovery. You might be able to go into your local health food store or mfg websites to request free samples.
It might be harder to find a strawberry flavor that you like the taste of. So, you can also consider getting a vanilla flavored one and then adding fresh or frozen strawberries to it. I use the Magic Bullet, both at home and work, to make my shakes.
My shake is usually:
1 scoop chocolate Scivation Whey protein powder
140 - 160g of frozen berries (using frozen berries makes the shake thick and yummy like a milkshake)
7 - 8oz of unsweetened almond milk0 -
Yes, definitely drink protein shakes after workouts...particularly strength...to repair and recover muscles. You can get your protein from food sources, but shakes are great and easy post workout or when time is not on your side. Stick with Whey protein. Also, read the labels on protein shakes, some are riddled with added sugars. I have used Optimum Nutrition (ON) protein shakes. I get them off of Amazon for way cheaper than GNC or other stores. But just starting out I would definitely go and see if you can sample some at a GNC type store. You don't want to spend money for a 5 gallon tub and then find out you hate the taste. Protein shakes seem expensive, but one tub lasts a long time as you are only taking 1 small scoop per serving. I mix mine with water post work-out. As a meal replacement I mix it with milk. Shakes taste better with milk and with fruit blended in them but I don't like drinking all the extra calories unless its as a meal replacement.0

Definately drink a muscle recovery shake after workouts!!! Add some glutamine in there also!
I drink vi shape nutritional milkshakes! They are packed with nutrition but only have 90 calories, 1 fat, 7 carbs, 1 sugar. I mix mine in a blender with milk, juice, or coffee, ice and cocoa powder, peanut butter, pudding powder, and/or extract flavors. Sweet cream flavor only!!!!!!!!!!0
