NSV on my way to 5k

I don't run. I don't like to run. I never have and always believed I never would. In highschool, when we had to run the mile in gym class, I hid behind the bleachers until people lapped me. Over the last 2 weeks I have decided to do the Couch to 5k program. And while I have given myself every excuse in the book to not get up and start this program, on Friday night I officially started. It was hard and my legs ACHE. I barely finished Week 1, Day 1 and I can't imagine the ache I will feel over the next few weeks. But the NSV is that all I thought about on Saturday was getting back out there. And so the following day, I did. Week 1, Day 2 completed. And I'm itching to complete Day 3 and move on to the next week. Me. The girl who has never ran a full mile or ever wanted to, is planning her next week's runs (more like jogs but I gotta start somewhere!). I'm so excited to complete this program but I plan to enjoy it the whole damn time! I may feel an ache in my legs when I walk, but I'm walking with pride.

You can do it! Nothing beats a runner's high!!! and it is a serious way to burn a ton of calories!! Just add a little mileage at a time and you will soon be running that 5K and maybe even on to longer races! Keep running!0

Good job! I just completed week 9 and I'm starting over this week (today?). There is a free pod cast on www.c25k.com by Robert Ullrey that I used. He tells you when to walk or run. I was scared to death to go on to week 2 but I was amazed at how ready I was. I don't stretch enough afterwards. If you're really aching, that is probably the answer.
One concern about the C25K program is you have the choice to run by minutes or miles. By week 9, I could run 30 minutes but didn't equate to 3.1 miles for me. I also made the mistake of making W9D3 my first 5K.....a little too soon!!!!
Keep up the great work! Your body will amaze you!0 -
I actually planned my 5k on the day that my wedding was supposed to be, before I called it off- which gives me about 13 weeks to train myself. I feel that running a 5k on that particular day will be the absolute most satisfying, liberating experience for me thus far in my life. I'm already looking forward to the finish line!0
