What do you use to log C25K workouts here ? There is nothing in the database for it that I've been able to find. Help!?

Thanks,
Erin

Using a HRM is most accurate. If you don't have one, you can add all the time you're walking together and all the time you ran and put it in that way,

You can log the individual times you spent running/walking a certain mph. I did it on a treadmill, so I just logged however many calories it said I burned under "C25K"

I figured out my average mph, then added it in by jogging or walking (depending) through the tracker. I use a BodyBugg for more accurate counts though.

Before I got my HRM fixed, I used the average speed of my run/walk (from the Cardio Trainer app on my phone) to enter calories burned into MFP. At first it was about 4 MPH, then 4.5, then 5.0 and so on. It turns out that the calorie counts were actually a little low for me, but I was pretty out of shape and a bit older, so it's not unexpected.

ETA: I'm 5'3" and about 130 pounds. I burn between 100 and 110 calories per mile.

Thanks everyone! I don't have a HRM, so I was lost as to how to input it. I was only able to do half of the actual work out - this was my first official work out in months due to having two surgeries in the past few months, one of which was knee surgery, so I wanted to start out slowly.

  • I just break it up. How many minutes total did I run and at what speed? Then the other entry is for the walking, same thing. My pedometer tells me the total calorie burned and total distance so I use that as a range to make sure I'm calculating right.

I'm probably off a bit (under guessing the calories burned) but it doesn't phase me too much since I'm more focused on how much time and distance I'm gaining over calories burned anyways.

Distance in miles / time per hour = speed.

You can then do a search for running or walking depending on your speed. I think the cut off is 5 mph and higher is running or jogging. And they are listed in .5 mph increments. Always choose on the low side.
