calorie intake

i was wondering if i should take in the calories that i burn off. i am to take in 1200 calories a day. i take in that amount and then when i input my exercise this app tells me that i should be eating those calories too. i burn anywhere from 800-1000 calories a day. i am just not sure if i should be taking those back in. i thought that the goal was to burn more calories than i take in. if i factor in the calories that i am burning versus the calories i am taking in, the total intake would be about 300 calories. could this be why i am not losing any weight? if someone could help me with this please
