Does anyone know if they contribute to weight gain? I am on a pretty low dose and just recently started taking them again and am afraid they will add weight.:ohwell:

I've been on birth control pills for the last 4 years. May I ask what kind you're on? Most of them will cause you to gain weight because of the hormonal shift, but some will make you gain less than others.0

You run the risk of adding weight if you DON'T take them either. Luckily, that weight comes off after about 9 months!
It depends on your body chemistry and the pill/dosage/etc. Discuss with your doctor if you are concerned.0 -
it's hard to tell.... every body reacts different. I was ok for first few years but after that my body start acting super crazy and I had no choice but take a break from any hormones, as well I know people who take them for so long and never gained a pound.0

I have been on them for 4 years. Still on them and i have lost weight this year. I find i am more emotional but i am not even sure if that is the pills. I just enjoyed eating when i was feeling down or up.0

I started BC pills again at the end of June - I've lost 15 pounds since then. However, June is when I started eating right and exercising. So if you are working hard I don't see why the BC pills will hinder your weight loss.0

Maybe like 3-5 lbs - Trust me...the 5 lbs is better then the 50 youll gain when you are preggers!0 -

I hate to say...but I have been on BC for 20+ years and never experienced any weight gain or loss as a reaction to the hormones.0 -
I had a horrible time on the pill. I gained weight (more than I'm willing to admit), had all sorts of ugly side effects...or is it affects? heck I can't think...anyways if you are concerned as everyone has said talk to the doctor. I did much better on the shot and it's only once every 3 months...0
