Supersize vs Superskinny Calories...

On SvS they say an average woman needs 2000 cals a day and 1450 is low...
I'm eating ~1450 in order to lose weight... Someone explain to me why their diet plans seem to send them to 'normal' (2000) not to what MFP suggests?

For those super sized people they still need to eat more calories then the ones that only have 20 lbs to lose. You are on a low cal diet SVS is giving the calories of the average woman not on a diet.0

That's probably because the people they consider supersize aren't your average woman. The more you weigh, the more calories your body needs to keep going. So MFP originally gave me a calorie limit of 1800 to lose 1lb per week. Now that I've lost a bit it changed my calorie limit (with a few stages in between) to 1510.
Also, most people on MFP that I've seen posting in here choose their lifestyle based on their job (as MFP suggests) and then adds the calories burned exercising. SvS may be including the amount of exercise they want the participants to do in their general calorie intake.0 -
I just saw this show for the first time tonight.. watching it right now as I speak, actually. I looove it! I love UK's whole approach to weight loss and body image compared to US. The only thing I don't like about the show is how imbalanced the 'supersize' vs 'superskinny' has been thus far.. every episode seems to feature a waif woman and a very obese guy. I am sure there are enough obese women in the UK to feature on the programme.0

don't worry. If you are getting the UK version you will see plenty of supersize ladies and superskinny men. they are still running new eposides of svs over here and i watcch it. Love that show! and the fit doctor!
The average calorie intake for a woman who needs to lose a bit of weight is 1200 calories. As stated by many charities i.e. Action Cancer UK.
The formula for 2000 calories per day i have no idea how they come to that conclusion. The taller and bigger you are the more calories you need to run your body.0
