So I weighed myself last Monday and wasn't thrilled about my weight loss for the previous week. I decided this past week that I was going to work super hard and stick to my calorie goal every single day! That's exactly what I did - I exercised every single day this past week and I stayed within my calorie goal. I was soo proud of myself, but when I weighed myself yesterday, I was at the exact same weight as last Monday.

Now I am feeling so discouraged because I really expected to AT LEAST lose a pound, if not more, from all my hard work. I really shouldn't be plateu-ing already since I haven't really lost THAT much weight yet....

I just need some motivation because I am really feeling down :(

Staying at the same weight is better than gaining weight. You're not necessarily plateau-ing yet. Keep doing what you're doing, and you should start to see results. Feel free to add me! And look up my support group "hm_day's Support Group" where we are all talking and encouraging one another! Don't get discouraged :)

You can do it!!! I have been at the same weight now for about 3 weeks. It is discouraging when you know you are doing everything you can.

Try changing up your workouts maybe...do something different...I have found in the past couple months if I switch from strictly being in the gym and being on the elliptical to going to a class or doing water aerobics..or even a DVD at home..sometimes that will result in a pound or two loss.

    Good luck to you!!!!

This is probably something you don't want to hear but I plateaued at 16 lbs lost and now almost another 15-16 pounds later, I am at a plateau again. It happens but you need to push through it. Change up your exercise routine and introduce different foods into your diet and you should break through it. I am on week 2 of this plateau and my last one lasted almost 4 weeks. You just need to figure out what works for you. DON'T GIVE UP!

Make sure the calorie goal you're hitting is your NET goal... which means eat back your exercise cals... at least to where your net is at 1200... That is really the number one mistake around here... People eat to their goal and then exercise and don't eat any more than that... Doing it that way is basically not giving your body enough fuel so it will hang on to what it does get, resulting in little to no weight loss for your efforts. If you ARE eating your 1200 NET, then give it another week or two.... When I started the 30 Day Shred I went up by like 2 pounds and STAYED there for 2-3 weeks before seeing a drop in the scale... but I DID see a lot of inches drop off. Try measuring yourself... sometimes that can be a huge motivator. :) Good luck!!!

Don't be discouraged! There are any number of things that can play into why the scale didn't change that don't necessarily mean you're doing anything wrong.

The human body fluctuates in weight constantly for all kinds of reasons, especially for women. This is the reason a lot of folks suggest weighing yourself at the same time of day every time, so that you're more likely to get an accurate measure. However even that is fallible. That's not to say weighing yourself regularly is a bad thing, it keeps you accountable for your actions and prevents you from procrastinating. But don't be so hard on yourself because of one week's results. As long as you stick with it in the long run you'll reach the goals you're after.

As a side note, and perhaps to show you how much one can fluctuate from week to week, I made a biggest loser bet with my fiance for our wedding. It's a little bit tough because she wants to lose like 10 pounds and I want to lose 50, but I wanted to be supportive. Anyhow, I was a little bit suspicious when she lost 7 pounds the first week and hadn't really seriously started dieting yet...and then I realized that our first official weigh-in was during her time of the month! She's such a cheat!!!!! =)

It would be easier to help with suggestions if your food diary was open. If you're working out every day, you may be retaining water. Our muscles need time to heal and repair themselves. If your sodium is high, you may hold water. It's just as important to make sure you're eating the right foods instead of a calorie count.

It's also possible you're not eating enough. Are you eating your workout calories? If you're not eating them back, and you're only at 1200/daily, you're not eating enough, and you won't lose weight.

I understand that you're frustrated, but it is possible you've plateaud. Relatively speaking, you have more weight to lose than a lot of people here, myself included. I plateaued after a few weeks and losing 20 pounds. I know that's more than you've lost but I also, at that point, had over 110 pounds to still lose.

Try switching up your eating patterns, and if you don't, vary your exercise. Your body is smart and figures out patterns easily. You have to confuse it to make it constantly lose weight.

Others have given you really great advice already, but just to add - as women, our weight fluctuates with our cycle. Is it that time of the month? Two weeks ago I was frustrated just like you were since I had followed my calorie goals, exercised every day, etc yet my weight stayed the same. I was extra frustrated since I even gave up my weekly two glasses of wine! Later that day, aunt flo came. The following week, I dropped 4 pounds. Just something else to consider!
