How do you stay motivated?

The past few days I've been jogging, which makes me feel really great. It's very rewarding, but how do I keep myself motivated? As of now I still am, but I don't want that motivation to go away!

Dedication, not motivation.
You have to want the results more than you want a lazy day of no exercise, ice cream and chocolate, etc. If you truly, simply WANT it, you can make it happen.0 -
On days when you don't feel like exercising, think about how GREAT you are feeling right now and how good you will feel AFTER the workout over. Think of the benefits and rewards of doing the exercise.
Of course, if you need a day off by all means, take it! But, just remember of how good it feels when you stay on track!0 -
Do not even give yourself the option of not sticking with your routine. This is just like brushing your teeth. You MUST do it to stay healthy.0

I have a calendar on my wall every day I go to the gym I put a red smile face, if I work out outside the gym a blue smile face on the days I don't work out, NO SMIILIE FACE! I have them on the back of my bedroom door and I print a new one out every month and stack it. Then I know how many months I have been doing it, and have to see my bad weeks. Very 5 year old of me but I swear it helps.0

Goals! I always asked myself how bad did I want this...and I kept saying really bad! lol Each day that passes get's you closer to losing that extra pound. Remember why you want to lose the weight and do it for yourself overall.0

For me the health benefits are the best reward. I like how I feel as a result of working out.0

I think this is cute! :happy:0 -
My biggest motivation is how terrible I feel on days that I don't workout and/or eat like crap. But I think that terrible feeling only comes after you have developed the habit for awhile.
My husband helps me stay motivated by really pushing me to get my workouts in and congratulating me when I do. I think finding a workout buddy is useful. Even if it is a virtual workout buddy. Just someone who can check in with you daily or weekly (whatever you prefer) to see how you are doing.
I get motivation from my twitter friends - many of which workout regularly and tweet about it (I am @Ashleysh22)
and most recently - I am really motivated by the people that I coach. I am recently a beachbody coach and many of the people that I coach have sent me messages in the last week about how much weight they have lost and how much they love their workouts. It really motivates me to keep excelling at my workouts too!
My best advice is to find someone that inspires you - that you can watch - and be like "gosh dangit *I* want to work that hard!"0 -
I love this! Perhaps I should put my Turbo Fire Schedule on my wall and do the same thing!
My hubby does something similar - only he uses an X. One X for the days he works out, and one X for the days he does not drink soda.I have a calendar on my wall every day I go to the gym I put a red smile face, if I work out outside the gym a blue smile face on the days I don't work out, NO SMIILIE FACE! I was just on vacacion for 4 weeks, it was marvellous! However, I didn't do much work out and ate a bit more than usual, I got home a kilo heavier than I left. I've been all guns blazing since then, but I decided when I started this new healthier lifestyle 8 months ago that I'd have a target of getting to my ideal weight for my birthday in November. I've got 3 months and 22 days left before November, having a short term goal is really good for keeping you motivated. You've decided to be a new you, so give yourself a short term goal, arrange to go to or have an event and then use that as a motivation to achieving a certain goal. Mine is my birthday, although not sure how we'll celebrate that, it'll be celebration enough if I can get down ten inches!0

I use a different version of the calendar - I actually put my planned workouts on there - both time/distance and type of workout. not that they vary much from week to week except the distance runs, but having it on my calendar and crossing it off has helped keep me on track. I also have found working towards a specific goal helps as well - my current workout schedule is designed around a 1/2 marathon September 3. Then I'll set a next goal, be another distance run, bike ride, or even working towards a specific speed...0

That's actually a great idea! I love crossing things off to-do lists! Maybe I'll adopt it!0
