Hey! I just moved into a new place and all of the walls are extremely white....it's awful! I'm wanting to paint our bedroom a color, but we can't decide on anything.... our bedding is navy/dark blue with silver details so we want something that will complement those colors! Any suggestions?? :)

Find a blue/gray that complements the silver and dark blue!

Home Depot (and probably Lowes) has pamphlets that have dozens of paint samples for free. I'd recommend picking a few up and see what works best with your bedding and the lighting in your room.

    Good luck!

or go completely funky and do a complimentary color to the blue.... orange. On maybe one wall. But otherwise, shades of blue would work well!

What kind and how much light is in that room? What kind of ceilings? and what is the dimensions... that will determine how dark you can go in the room. I would pick one off of your bedding to match it from.. Suggestion would be the silver since its small details it wont look like you are flooding your room with all one color.

I watch HGTV all the time and Blues and Grey's are the new hot colors. Take a sham to the store and pull one of the colors from it.
Don't take the Darkest or the Lightest. Pick one in between. Candice Olson is a designer on HGTV and she has been working a lot with grey and blue. Go online and look up some of her rooms.

Great ideas! My friend suggested a light beige/tan color.... I'm going to go spend like an hour in the paint section deciding!

We have one window, so we don't get much natural light. Not sure what you mean by kind of ceilings...but they're that popcorn type ceiling...... 13 x11 are the dimensions and the carpet is a cream/beige color...it's pretty light.

What I do is take the paper color samples and tape them to the walls of the room I want to paint and gradually over days eliminate the ones I don't want until I finally have the one that I want. The color samples can look completely different in the store than they do on your walls because of lighting. Good luck and have fun picking out a color.

I was actually thinking that color....it'd be a nice accent color and it is very peaceful!

reason I was asking about the ceilings is if they are vaulted or cathedral etc. This allows the room to stay looking bigger with a darker color. If you have standard ceilings with a dark color it can make your room look very small with very little dimension to it. What is hard is debating how much silver is involved. If you went with a light beige color it would look great with the blue, but if there is a lot of silver it may look a bit off, but you cant really go silver on the walls with a beige carpet. I would say in my opinion find a blue color that is a cool silverish look.. there is a transition card that goes from blue to silver look in that area. I think you will do fine.

Oh yeah, they're just flat normal ceilings..... and the silver detail is actually a lot of the detail, the lines of the design are kind of thick, so its not just a little bit of silver... about to head to Home Depot now!

    Thanks for the ideas everyone!

Bump...because I've lived in my home 2 years and have different colors painted in spots all over the place. I can't freakin decide! The only rooms that have been completed are the bathrooms!

In the meantime, you can get samples of all the colors and fingerpaint/splash them all over the walls, abstract art style. To liven the place up a bit. And you'd get to see how they look on a wall too!

    I'm not serious.

Edit: Sorry, that wasn't any help. When I was choosing a color, I got a few of those sample squares of each color I liked and taped them to the wall for a few days to see which one fit the room and which one I liked more. Hopefully that's more help in helping you decide...
