Plenty of fruit & veg, drink plenty of water, and try and steer clear of sweets, biscuits, cakes, crisps.
You should aim for around half a plate full of veg, 1/4 carbs, a tiny bit of fat/dairy.
Hope this helps :flowerforyou:0 -
NEVER EVER EVER SKIP BREAKFAST
Drink water rather than soda or highly sweetened juices
Limit white bread, rice or pasta and instead choose whole grains
Eat plenty of vegetables
Go for grilled or baked rather than fried
As often as possible use fresh whole foods rather than processed foods.
Avoid fast food as much as possible.
Also, don't try to make too many changes at once. Add one small change at a time, make sure that it's become second nature and then add the next change.0 -

Well you are in the right place!!
Start by logging every morsel you put into your mouth. I mean think about even a stick of gum. This really knocked me for a loop, as I had no idea how many calories I was eating in a day.
Eliminate fast food. It is hard, I know, but it is loaded with the unknown, and not healthy.
Eat breakfast
Read the label
Drink water
Add fruits and veggies
Make small changes, 1 at a time and before you know it your ticker will say 10 pounds lost!!
Good luck, and welcome:flowerforyou:0 -
That is so funny, I was typing at the same time as Tess and walked away without posting. BAM we both said the same things:happy:
Great minds think alike!! :laugh:0 -
Add plent of fruits and veggies. And try to maintain a balance between protien and carbs. If you find that you mainly eat "carb" foods try adding in some extra protien like eggs, tuna, cottage cheese, nuts, cheese (I like pepper jack cheese sticks), peanut butter, and lean meats. If you eat mainly protien foods try adding some healthy carbs like yogurt (it has a lot of carbs in it), whole grain breads, special K snack bars, oatmeal, cereal, brown rice, melba toast.
Try to drink lots of water and avoid pop and juices.0 -
eat at home as much as possible. And try to make most of those meals homemade (eliminate or limit those frozen dinner type meals, even the ones that claim to be healthy)
bring healthy snacks with you everywhere you go so you won't be tempted to buy unhealthy ones.
drink water and lots off it
avoid high-cal foods that have very little nutritional value (like cookies and chips)
limit bad fats but not all fats
I beleive the general rule for a meal is 1/2 plate of leafy veggies (like a salad), 1/4 plate of starch like rice, potatos, corn, pasta etc. and 1/4 plate or about 3 oz of lean meat.
Make gradual changes, you can do it~0
