I play roller derby, and I need to tone up.

I LOVE baked goods and I HATE jogging.

I started playing roller derby about a year ago and it's the first time in my life I've viewed my body as a tool or weapon instead of a clothes hanger. That being said, my massively fast metabolism slowed WAY down when I turned 25, so although I've become more active, my diet hadn't improved much.

I keep really busy with work and my social life, so it's hard for me to commit to the cross-training I need to improve at derby and to tone up. Anybody with advice about how to get myself tot he gym even when I reeeeeally don't feel like it, please hit me up!

Find a workout buddy. When social time is at the gym your more likely to go. My girlfriends all get together on Tuesday to do a workout and then play bingo at a local bar. So much fun.
  • Hello!

It's tough, but you've got to fit it in if you really want it. Something before work, or directly after work, before going out to socialise. Get up earlier on weekends to get some cross-training in before you start the day.

Better yet - if it's possible that is - do the gym/exercise with some willing friends. Turn it into something a bit more social - I always find I go to training sessions more when I have someone to go with.

Good luck! I played Roller Derby for a bit last year - I sucked, but it was fun!
