morning cereal

i'm looking for a cold cereal to eat in the mornings before school and work that won't have me hungry again in 2 hours.
i currently eat from the Special K varieties but the sodium is kind of high and i'm guessing there must be something better out there.
what filling and healthy (and hopefully not too expensive) cereal is there?
if you don't eat cold cereal what are other quick and filling breakfasts?
(i live in south florida so most of the year it is horribly hot so i don't want anything like oatmeal or hot foods)

Fiber One or Fiber Plus tend to keep me satisfied, especially the ones with nuts (protein and fiber keep you full longer).0

Fiber -One, Shredded Wheat or Bran Buds. They have tons of fiber that will keep your belly feeling full. Try almond milk instead of cow's milk.0

try the Kashi brand cereals, like bitesize shredded wheat0

Kashi go lean is a great cereal. High fiber. High protein. I have that and a yogurt in the AM and I'm good to go!0

and try eating a banana in it0

Cereal always leaves me hungry....!!!
I try to mix carbs and protein. I generally eat a small breakfast, so I'll shoot for yogurt and toasted whole-grain bread, or a banana and a piece of string cheese.0 -
Grape nuts is definitely filling:

Special K has that beat though:

Wheaties, my favorite, is the best for price, nutrition, and it fills you up!

Greek yogurt with a little granola sprinkled on top.0

I'm going to agree with the Shredded Wheat.. I get a local store brand and it actually doesn't have hardly ANY sodium in it. I use soy milk (Soy Slender) instead of dairy cos it has more fiber, and lots of protein, that keeps me going for about 3 and 1/2 hours usually0

I'll second the Kashi motion. My go-to Monday through Friday, though, is a hard boiled egg and a banana. That keeps me pretty satisfied, although I do also have coffee with soymilk, which I think also adds to keeping me full.0

Total is awesome! As are multi-grain cheerios, shredded wheat(not frosted, especially if watching sugar), regular cheerios with 1/2 banana and a bit of protein powder, wheaties...dang so many!0

I really like the Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal. It is my morning routine, a bowl of 3/4 cup of that and 1/4 cup of something sweet and fun just to change it up a little. I am adding the Cinnamon burst cheerios at this time which aren't that bad health wise themselves but oh so good The best part about the Kashi is it has a good amount of fiber and protein in ti so the effect doesn't wear off as fast. I typically also eat it with some kind of fruit or a yogurt. Helps make it feel more like a meal and not just a quick bite before you run out the door. Fiber One Honey clusters is good too, not quite the full filling as the kashi for me but very good tasting and still quite good for you.0

Fiber One 80 calories is good, make sure to drink a lot of water after though its go 10g of fiber and keeps me going until about 11 if I eat it at 7am )0

A high protien smoothie will keep you from getting hungry. They are cool and super eazy. the following is one of my favorites
I use NECTAR – brand name (whey protein)
I scoop vanilla NECTAR
8 to 12 oz fat free milk
½ cup to ¾ cup frozen fruit
1 pkg any flavor Emergen – C
Any whey protien is good. I just really like the NECTAR brand. You can get it cheap via amazon.com
p.s. I use fresh fruit too. I just add some ice cubes to make it super cold. The calories very from 320 to 420 depending on the quanities you use0 -
I would suggest finding whatever cereal has the highest protein. But still not sure how high in protein cereals can actually be. You could have some cottage cheese and fruit with it perhaps.0

I like the Total Cranberry Crunch cereal, and I think there's another one with banana in it? Can't remember if that's the Total brand or not, though. They usually have coupons for them in the Sunday paper, that you can also find online. Also, you mention that you're in Florida? I live in Florida, too, and I've noticed lately that the Total brand cereals at Publix have coupons on the boxes...at least the stores in my area do. I also throw a banana in my cereals, if I have bananas, which definitely help fill me up!0

I eat Kashi Go Lean and throw in an ounce of almonds, and I eat a 4oz cup of greek yogurt (Stonyfield organic w/caramel on the bottom). It is a bit pricy, but it fills me up and gets me goin'.0
