I was getting a pedicure today, and the nail lady asked me if I was pregnant.
Nope, just fat.
Thanks.

That sucks, but it doesn't always mean you are fat. I have heard more than one perfectly health women say that the same thing has happened to them.
So try not to take it too personally.0 -
Why do idiots ask these questions....I mean really?? I don't care if a woman is 9 freaking months pregnant and it is so obvious...I'm still not going to ask..hahaha! GRRR!0
-
And here I thought the rule was: "Don't guess at that ever ever ever ever ever EVER EVER EVer ever ever ever...."0
-
My boss did the same thing to me once. And I was 8lbs lighter than I am now.0

You think people would know better than that by now (with all the overweight people we see everywhere). The other day I was talking to my neighbor who had a baby last year and is about to turn one. She is quite heavy and after talking about her kid for a little while, she says, "And this one is due right around the same time,"
What? I could barely tell she was pregnant. But still, it's better to be safe then sorry.0 -
No No No, you have it all wrong... she only asked you that because you had that beautiful essence that pregnant women seem to radiate.
(turn a negative into a positive... now it is a NSV!)0 -

Unless I see a woman with her feet in stirrups and a baby crowning I'm NOT asking when she's due. Seriously. 9 times out of 10 it's just a bad bad bad idea!0 -
A friend once gave me some good advice. "I don't care if you see the baby crowning--never ask a woman if she's pregnant." :-)0
-
How awful! You should have responded with, "Nope, but I'm making some big changes to slim down. What are you doing about your personality?" and then not tipped her! Personally, I have a policy of not tipping people who are so blatantly rude.0
-
oh well....you should have said "No why???"
Then she'd have to say something and I bet she wouldn't!!!
Don't worry too much...people say really really stupid things.....
A MAN said the same thing to my daughter once...like "oh another little one on the way???" She hadn't even had one yet!!!! lol
Chin up... you''re looked different next time you have a pedicure and if she is STILL stupid she'll say..."Oh...had the baby then????"

back in '94, i had shoulder surgery, so my arm was in a sling.. it was winter, and i was wearing a baggy sweater, keeping my arm against me, in it's sling. i had a woman ask while i was getting my hair cut, how i lost my arm.
humans never cease to baffle me., you think i'd be used to stupidity by now.0 -

AGREE....pregnancy and babies are the BEST!!!0 -
I had something similar happen to me once -- My husband, couple of our friends, and I went out to a restaurant...All of a sudden a woman from a distance started rushing towards us with a big smile on her face yelling "Oh my God, you guys are expecting...I am so happy for you both" (as she started rubbing my belly)...She was one of my husband's relative who we see once a year. I ended up ordering salad and water in the restaurant. Cheer up!!! People can be very ignorant, but they cannot help it!!!0

Oh I think it happens to all women at some point. I went out to eat, and then went to a store to buy some toys for kids that I work with- and the lady at the register asked me "who are you having?"...don't get frustrated- some ppl just don't have manners!0
-
I have gotten that one before too but it was from a guy that asked if I was preggers or just fat. . I so wanted to slap him.
But there is a reason she asked even if she couldn't do it in a nicer way. There supposedly some pressure point on your foot that can cause the start of labor. So your not supposed to get that area massaged while in early stages of pregnancy. Im sorry she was so rude about it.0 -
Thanks for all the kind words everyone, this one got me pretty bummed.0

Don't stress it. Some people just don't know how to keep their traps shut.
The only time I asked something baby related was "How far along are you?" and it was because I KNEW she was pregnant. I would NEVER, EVER ask if somebody was pregnant or how far along they are otherwise. Obviously not everybody else thinks the same....0
