Hey everyone , I been working out and I stick to it and do pretty good.I came to realize I absolutely don't like veggies when I have snacks occasionally fruit but im just not one that will ever snack or any veggies , it's just not what I like , my favirote snacks is chips , popcorn , nacho's and chese , things like that.I have all kinds of favirotes but never no veggies just not my cup of tea at all.I have been cutting out soda way more then usual but if I can fit the snacks I like in my daily goal is it still okay long as I don't go over , even willing to work out longer if it means eating what I like and not gaining extra weight from them , theres people out there that are way worse off then I am , I still fall into the fairly thing category even though im 5'4 and 147 , still far from fat just wanna lose a little more , think it's still okay to eat what I like and still keep the weight off long as I burn it off , thanks

Veggies are important in weight loss and overall general health.

You don't have to snack on them, but eat them with meals at least.
  • oh I do eat salad's quite a bit and stuff with veggies as the toppings with meals just not for snacks

It is going to be up to you and if your body can tolerate it.

Personally, I eat what I want - when I want it. I'm 5'4" and 143lbs. I'm maintaining and doing just fine with the way I am eating. Sure, I eat some fruits and some veggies - but really.. they aren't my favorite. I'm a picky eater and I just don't care for the texture of a lot of foods.

Know that your body will be healthier if you cut out the processed snacks - but also know that if your body is okay with it, you have to enjoy life too. No one wants to live their life eating foods they don't really like or having to feel like they are a bunny. lol.

Enjoy life, but keep it in moderation.
  • well your smaller then me so I will totally take your advice =) I went from 137-147 on a shot so soon as that gets out of my system I hope the weight starts coming off

When I first started on this journey, I was VERY strict with my food. Didn't take long for me to realize I couldn't live the rest of my life avoiding some of the foods I love. I slowly learned how to work the things I really love into my calories for the day. It didn't take long for me to realize that I was far happier being able to have the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups I want at work. LOL. I try and eat veggies or fruit everyday - but I don't obsess over every morsel that goes into my mouth.

Yes, I want to remain this weight but I don't want to be a slave to food either. I only have this life to live and I plan to enjoy it.

Now, if I start seeing a jump on the scale that lasts longer than water weight - I may re-evaluate what I'm doing, but for now? It's working great for me (and has been for awhile -- I've been in maintenance for awhile now).
  • Eat some veggies... they are good for you :) And yes... I believe it is good to eat what you want. Portion control is key and activity is very important.

i don't snack on veggies either. but like you, i do eat salads. or i try to hide it in my sandwhich or something. like for breakfast i will use 2 slices of Sarah lee 45calorie bread, i slice of deli meat, 1 slice of FF cheese, 1 scambled egg, sliced tomatoes, and cucumbers. i guess it helps me get my daily amount of veggies :)) i am 5'5 and 133. today i snacked on a snack size bag of Cheetos, yesterday i snacked on a bag of light popcorn, and i drink diet coke everyday. LOL i still am averaging on losing 1.5 lbs a week. i think that as long as you keep your heavy snacks under control and stay within calorie range and exercise, you will be fine. just try to be as healthy as you can :))

I don't think about it in terms of weight. There are examples of people in a healthy weight range with diabetes and heart conditions. Our bodies were never meant to process all the highly processed foods that are available in bulk in the market these days. 150 calories from Doritos & cookies is different from 150 calories from fruits/veggies/lean protein. It's about feeling the best you can because food is meant to provide your body with the nutrients and energy you need, rather than empty calories. Think about how you feel when you're eating heavy snacks and soda compared to how you feel when you're eating good for you foods. I started feeling my best when I started cutting all the rubbish out of my stomach. I always suggest a healthy clean diet over a zero to low nutrition diet.
