I have been on MFP for about a month and I already feel improvements. Not much, but some. I decided to take the "before" pictures and I panicked a little. I had a completely different self-image than what I see in the pictures. To me, I still looked like 10 years ago. The problem was my clothes did not fit. I am now a little worried I will never have the body I had before. This was the wake-up call. I am eating 1200 calories per day, plus some of the calories I exercise (which I learned here). Will 30 minutes of calisthenics (I like Nike training club app on my iPod) per day get me there or do I need p90x or something more intense?
I don't know how to add pictures here, but I have them in my profile.

it depends on what you can do physically..and ps you DONT have to eat back. that is one of the biggest diet myths spread around this forum..so is the starvation mode and the needing 1200 cals to live thing.

anyways...like i said..if you feel you can manage p90x then do it...

I think it's a unique thing to everyone. I, personally, found I did need to eat more... the net calories for my body needed to be higher.
I have seen you post a couple of other places saying you don't need it. Perhaps you personally don't need it and feel it is a myth, but for me in my journey, I found I did need the extra calories.

To each their own. I think each person needs to research across the internets and discover what works for them.
If you plan on building up muscle, then you will need to eat. Just sayin

AGREED! I've learned that my body NEEDS the extra calories and I NEED to eat back my exercise calories. I'm proof that it is NOT a myth. Just because something different works for YOU doesn't mean it is a myth. It simply means it doesn't work for YOU. I think calling it a myth or whatever is a bit rude to the people who've learned their body DOES need the extra calories in order to lose weight, maintain their weight or whatever.

I consume 2200-2500 NET calories a day. I am 143-145lbs (today I was 143, but 145 is well within my "normal range") and have been maintaining for several months.

You DON'T need to eat AT ALL if you want to lose weight in fact...

    So?
Does it mean it is the better way of doing things?

I don't think my way is a better way of doing things for anyone else.. but me. I know that eating my exercise calories, consuming 2200-2500 calories a day, etc is what MY body wants and needs, so I do it. I don't tell others they should do it or don't do it or whatever. I also don't tell them that what they're doing and what is working for them is a myth either. Just because it doesn't work for one person's body surely to goodness doesn't make it a myth.

I hear it all the time on this website - calling things that don't personally work for you a myth, a lie, false, etc. when in reality someone should simply say "Well, that doesn't work for ME - but it might for YOU". But going on and on about it being "a myth" (like it is a unicorn or something) is ridiculous.

No worries Chevy... Actually my post was not aimed at you at all =)
I actually completely agree with you that you should eat more rather than less if you want a healthy weight loss.

What I was trying to say (to clarify if anyone still reads this - apart from me lol) is:

"You could not eat AT ALL
AND you would STILL lose weight."

But even though the above is true, it does not mean that not eating is the best way of losing weight. I would tend not to think so because it would be a unhealthy weight loss.

To each their own though, as you pointed out.
