Elliptical Machines = My new best friend :)

I've just recently started using elliptical machines again, after falling out of love with them a while back! But.. I have to say, I love them again :)

I've had some really good sessions, usually about 45 mins on aerobics mode which switches from super slow, to fast, to own pace, reverse, using JUST your legs, and pushing/pulling with arms.

The other day on this setting I got to 7.11k in 45 mins. Because of the 2 min warm up, the extra 8mins of low RPM and 5 min cooldown i think that was quite alright.. but I'd like to go 10k! But don't know how long that should take me?

I will do the warm up & cool down, but I shan't count the cool down as i'll pop it on the end after I've made it 10k!

So assuming I work on resistence levels 3-6 (depending on what my leggies can handle...) and keep an average of abooooout 8.5-12 RPM, how long do you think it will take me?

I hope someone can help! What's a GOOD time for 10k on an elliptical too? Because eventually I want a really great time!

Full Steam Ahead Y'all!!

I can do 10km in about 55 mins on a intervals mode (swapping between level 12 and 5), on a normal, flat, boring mode then 12-15km an hour is a pretty good rate which would make 40-50 mins for 10km.

Okaaay... I might try for 55 on intervals then and see how I get on.. whether I die or not!

It'll be fine, aim for an hour first then just try and improve each time! I know machines who can crank 10k out much faster than that, but they run 10k in my 5k time!

I will aim to get it under the 60minute mark.. hopefully I can, even by 20 seconds!!

Those people... make me want to BE THEM!

I know, my best 10k time is 39mins. I have friends who have made the sub 20mins club :0( but on the up side I've done a sub 3:15 marathon and they haven't!

I got into long distance running at your age (very unfit and overweight after stopping all sports training in my final year at uni) and managed to run my first (and best) marathon within 12 months of starting training. You can do whatever you put your mind to AND be one of those people too!

I think my exercise diary for Monday should show my 45 mins just over 7k. MFP is very generous, I used the lower figure on the machine, but i still think that's pushing it a bit :)
