Exercises for the mildly & temporarily crippled?

This summer, it seems that my body has been hell-bent on preventing me from exercising. At the end of June, I sprained my right ankle, which laid me up for almost a month. Now that it's finally, finally almost healed, I've somehow developed a really nasty infection on the same stupid foot that landed me in the hospital all weekend. I'm guessing I won't be able to wear a pair of sneakers until summer's almost over and as it is, I'm walking with a pretty heavy limp. Do you have any suggestions for what kind of workouts I could try that could substitute for my typical regimen (walking, biking, elliptical, swimming)?

    Where there's a will there's a way!

I take it you can't swim with your foot the way it is? Because if you can it's probably your best bet cardiovascular-wise. Get one of those foam floaty things to hold your legs still and do laps with your upper body.

You also might want to take think about strength training exercises, you can still do any of the upper body workouts, and most ab workouts as well.

I fractured my ankle in 3 places about 6 years ago, and swimming+lifting was what I did to get through it. Good Luck!
