Paleo/Primal diet and running

In the last few weeks my carb cravings have become harder and harder to control, and the scale is starting to show my lack of control. Also noticed I'm feelin a lot more bloated and gross. This feeling that was definitely missing when I was fasting sugar and carbs back in April & June. I'm considering doing a quasi- paleo/primal diet to help reduce the carb cravings and reset my tastebuds. HOWEVER I'm also training for a 10mile race in October (BTB I'm a novice runner).

My paleo/primal friends, what do you eat to help fuel your runs without relying so heavily on carbs? Almost everything I read says I need to eat 50% of my calories from carbs. As I get deeper into training I know I'll need to fuel my body for longer distance runs, but are carbs REALLY the only/best way to go? Thanks for the help :-)

Sweet potatoes are great. Fruit is good as well.

White rice is also making a bit of an appearance in the Paleo community lately (white because it's stripped of the gut irritants and anti-nutrients you get in brown rice).

Your body needs to adjust to burning fats and then you'll be fine. October should be plenty of time to adjust too.

Check the athletes section of the forum at MarksDailyApple for great advice.

I think carbs as fuel is overrated.....nothing wrong with burning fat for fuel. It takes a little to adjust.
