Menu Item Change Ups!

With MFP, I have been adjusting my lifestyle since February of 2011 and it feels good!
Recently I have been very particular about menu items in restaurants. I really look it over and see what I can change to make it healthy for me!
How many of you, when ordering in a restaurant, ask the waitress to change up a menu item to meet your specifications? Of course we say dressing on the side, but have you gone to the extreme?
One day I asked for a chicken taco salad with NO SALT, NO CHEESE, and EXTRA LETTUCE. They brought it to me and they honored my wishes.
Maybe you can share some of your healthy requests that the restaurant cooks changed for you!
Don't be afraid to ask!! :drinker:

theres a dish at my local which is chicken with barbeque sauce, bacon and cheese, with chips and peas, and i always get them to not add bacon or cheese, switch the chips for a jacket with no butter, and switch the peas for a salad no dressing, they think i'm crazy because it ends up not being the dish on the menu, but i like it0

I work as a server at a restaurant, and I have no problem dealing with slight modifications like that. However, if you find yourself rattling off a list of modifications, you might want to just order something different or ask your server about popular choices for "light" menu options.
Also, don't forget to take care of your server if you're being a little more demanding than a regular guest. Especially if they get it right0 -
No fries, extra vegetables.0

One thing I have learned from my very picky bosses at lunches is that when ordering a salad as if you can get all romaine/ field greens rather then mixed with iceberg. Iceberg provides no nutrional facts. Then of course you go the no cheese route for salads but I always ask is there any other vegtables that could be included on the salad instead. The other day I ordered a patty melt and instead of the bun I asked for wheat bread, instead of the grease/butter used to grill the onions and bread I asked them if they could use olive oil, no cheese of course. They honored everyone of the requests I had for this silly sandwhich and it was still yummy. I think everyone generally understands and honors your requests the best that they can. At least so far.0

I agree 100% with the extra for a server who can honor your request.0 -
