This "club" is for anyone who wants to eat five or six times per day and eat natural, healthy, "clean" foods. Let's support each other in the quest to eat well, feel satisfied all the time, eliminate cravings, and melt off body fat. Anyone is welcome to join, and anyone can start the thread each day. Just copy and paste this first message into a new topic. You don't have to follow the diet perfectly, but it's easier than you might think!

Feel free to add your own tip or recipe for the day. Ask questions. Tell us what you're eating and how your clean food journey is going. How is it helping you or changing your life?
________
What is clean eating?

"In a nutshell, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. It also means staying away from the junk that typically makes up the Standard American Diet (S.A.D) These types of food include man-made sugar, bad fats (hydrogenated, trans-fat), preservatives, white bread, and any other ingredients that are unnecessary. An easy way to remember if a food is clean is: If man made it, don’t eat it.

A person who eats clean:

* Eliminates refined sugar and processed foods
* Eats 5-6 small meals per day
* Combines healthy proteins with complex carbohydrates at every meal
* Drinks a lot of water
* Eliminates alcoholic beverages (or significantly limits them)
* Always eats breakfast.
* Cooks healthy meals
* Packs healthy meals
* Makes healthy choices when dining out."

    As you can see from my ticker -- I've regained my three pounds -- I didn't do so well over the holiday, but I'm home again and ready to start over and learn from my mistakes! :sad: :tongue:

    Actually, for my first "clean" Thanksgiving, I don't think I did so bad. I didn't eat a single dessert and didn't really want or miss them. I felt in control during Thanksgiving dinner, whereas usually it's a binge fest. I ate *two* dinners this year, made the mistake of eating mashed sweet potatoes at the second one (duh -- of course they had sugar, but all I saw was the veggie), and I still feel like I achieved progress.

    The last five days were tough. We ate out three times (which is always a frustration) and there were temptations all around me. Eventually, sugar got the best of me, and by the end I did go on a bit of a binge fest. I didn't eat any desserts, but yesterday I pigged out on sweetened cereal and crackers and salted and buttered popcorn :blushing: , knowing that today I'd be tracking my food again. Five days of only moderate success were enough to set me on a binge and put me back at square one!

    So here I am! With lessons learned and new tools in my hands. I own all of Tosca's clean-eating books now (except for the weight-lifting one, which I don't think I need). The focus today will be on retaming my sweet tooth. :devil:

    How was your Thanksgiving? :flowerforyou:

    :flowerforyou: TODAY'S TIP: If you can't read it (the ingredients), don't eat it!

    My breakfast:
    1/2 cup oatmeal
    1/4 cup egg whites
    1/8 cup skim milk
    1/8 cup raisins (sweetness is still calling me....)

    Hi Cheryl! I'm back from vacation! I did pretty well eating, no desserts but did eat a bit more a few times for meals!! :laugh: :laugh: It's ok though, I still worked out and did well. Lots of swimming, playing in the ocean, ran on the beach, took long walks, ec.

    Anyway...

    I made the yummy spicy chicken chili recipe that Tamtastic posted in the recipes section for dinner. Yummy and healthy!!

    Hope you had a good T'giving week! It's nice to be home, and back to reality. :laugh:

    It was great to be back home and eating my own food today! At least for most of the day. I did eat out for dinner tonight (it's my husband's birthday) and went over calories for the day. We ate out at an Indian restaurant and they said they used no sugar in their recipes, however, there was a lot of salt. We'll be going away again this weekend, to visit family who eat *terrible.* I'll probably be eating out again, and I hope to take some of my own food to at least lessen the damage, like:

    Cottage cheese
    Oatmeal
    Egg whites

    and I'll have to think about what else.

    Eating clean is pretty easy at home, but I'm finding it VERY difficult when I travel, eat at restaurants, or eat in other people's homes. I'll just have to be happy with doing the best I can!

    I'll look up the chicken chili recipe, Jess. Glad you had a great cruise, and love the new pic!

    I want to do this but find it very difficult to achieve most of the time. Can you give me an example of what you eat? What your entire day's menu would be? How many calories do you eat? I notice that when I try to eat clean the calorie amount is low and I find it hard to reach my calorie allowance at the end of the day. Thank you in advance!!! :flowerforyou:
