If you ever watch Dr. Oz, he says that fat free salad dressings are a diet trap. He said they take out the fat and fill it with sugar. According to Dr. Oz, you are better off with low fat dressings or a good vinigarette.0

Bump, thanks for the great question, I have also ben struggling with this , THANKS TO ALL that gave thier dressings. Lots of new options to try.0

Ken's Lite Honey Mustard. I use about 2 tblspns and it's about 90 cals. It doesn't taste "lite" at all!0

Have you tried the Waldon Farms Salad Dressings? They are better than anything else I've tasted. They are fat free and sugar free, so good for diabetics. 0 Calories. They also have a Raspberry Viniagrete that is wonderful.0

Balsamic vinegar and cracked pepper. I would suggest adding a little olive oil because it's good fat, but if you really want fat free that's my favorite.
Mustard and vinegar is also pretty good. Play around with different flavors of both. I like horseradish mustard and apple cider vinegar a lot (really good as marinade or sauce for salmon too!) but there are lot of good combinations.0 -
what about plain old balsamic? nothing plain about it and i find the tang really lifts a salad!

Oh, something else that is good is to add pickled veggies to your salad to give the taste of dressing without actually using any. I save the juice from pickled peppers to use in homemade salad dressing instead of vinegar.0

lemon juice. fresh.
no, seriously... it's tasty!0 -
Great thread. Thanks for the references. Something that I've noticed is that cutting back on dressing can really alter my taste - I enjoy (and look for) the tastes of different vegetables - a salad is no longer a vehicle for transporting dressing to my gullet. Dressing *can* be used as an accent, a condiment. Go figure.
Homemade stuff is great, but for bottled, I really like Annie's Goddess Dressing: Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette. http://www.annies.com/products/category-140 -
Hello, Vicki!
I don't have a recipe, but I do have a dressing that I highly recommend...Maple Grove Farms of Vermont Fat Free Raspberry Vinaigrette is excellent! I was never a fan of fat free dressings until I tried this one! You can find it at WalMart. Let me know if you like it! I really look forward to salads when I have this on hand!
I haven't tried the one mentioned above, but my favorite is also from Maple Grove Farms of Vermont. It's their fat-free honey-dijon. My whole family loves it so much that I buy three bottles at a time. It has only 35 calories per 2 tablespoons. I find that one tablespoon is usually enough for me.0 -
I like to make my own vinegarette, just pick a balsamic vinegar you would like to try and it's half vingar half olive oil.0

Hello! We use Hidden Valley Ranch Light. It tastes very similar to the regular ranch and it is 80 cals per 2 TBS.0

Paul Newman's Light Italian con Limone. Delicious!0

I know you were looking for recipes, but I enjoy the ken's spray dressings, the rasberry and honey mustard are my favorites!0

Kraft Free dressings are extremely low in calories and are of course fat free:)0

I use greek yogurt with a little bit of milk to make my own ranch dressing. It actually tastes better than the original stuff. Just add spices and your all set!0

Wow! I had to go away for a few hours and when I got home, thought I would see if anyone posted anything for me. You are all just AWESOME!! What great ideas! I grabbed a pen and paper and have been jotting down all of these great ideas. Can't wait to try some. Balsamic vinegar mixtures seem to be very popular, as does Maple Farms, and the homemade choices sound so good! The strawberry dressing sounds really good. Thank you again!0

OK, here goes. The Newman's Own Light Balsamic is 45 Calories for 2 tablespoons, 4g fat and 2g carb. It's very tasty and low cal/fat!
The Weight Watchers Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe is as follows:
1/4 C grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 C Fat free mayonaise (I use Light Miracle Whip)
1/4 C Water
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon anchovy paste (I skip this one)
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
2 garlic cloves (I use dried garlic)
4-1 oz slices French bread cut into cubes
8 Cups torn romaine lettuce
1. Preheat oven to 300
2. Combine all first 9 ingredients in a small bowl and stir well with a whisk.
3. Place bread cubes on a baking sheet and bake at 300 for 15 minutes or until toasted
4. Combine croutons and lettuce in a large bowl, add dressing and toss to coat.
