So, i've been looking through my diary and realize that i've been taking in way too much sodium and today is the first day of trying to get those numbers lower. Does anyone have any tips or ideas as to how I can lower my sodium intake? What are some low sodium foods?

Avoid packaged foods that are not labelled low sodium or low salt. Read labels!! When cooking experiment with other seasonings and fresh herbs. Savory or spicy dishes are good with much less salt than bland dishes.

I know for me I try to avoid canned or prepackaged foods as much as possible. Anything that is basically add water and go it going to be packed full of sodium. Try to eat mostly fresh things and cook with less sodium products. But when I do feel I have had too much sodium I drink A LOT of water. It helps flush it out of your system...

Try to stay away from packaged foods i.e. sandwich meats, canned soups, canned vegetables, chips, etc. Try frozen vegetables if you can't get fresh veggies..DRINK YOUR WATER! It will help flush out the excess sodium you consume. Good luck on your journey!

Oh! Weight watchers and lean cuisine frozen meals are LOADED with sodium..stay away from these!

Thanks everyone! yeah, its going to be tough. Even my organic cereal has almost 200 mg. of sodium! That seems like a lot to me.

I was looking up this exact thing not long ago and I found a salt substitute. It's the salt-free Mrs. Dash seasonings. I recently bought the "table blend" and it spices up dishes perfectly with no added sodium.
And yeah, like everyone else said, avoid packaged stuff. I don't know why they pack so much sodium into those frozen meals & stuff!
