first day with the heart rate monitor

I just started running last week. Yesterday was my first "run" with a heart rate monitor. My primary goal was cardio exercise more than fat burning. Though my resting pulse is in the low 60's, the second I started to run my pulse shot up and through the aerobic zone into the anaerobic zone.
I guess I'm in worse shape than I thought.
After about 7 minutes of that I slowed to a brisk walk and did the next 15 minutes in the aerobic zone (130's for me).
It was a bit depressing to see just how hard my heart had to work to move my body at a jog. On the plus side, having the visual feedback of what zone I was in was very helpful and provided motivation if I unconsciously started to slow down.
At thsi rate it's going to be a while before I'm ready for a 5k.
