Ab-belts and Toning shorts

I'm talking about slendertone style things.
Does anyone have any experience with these as I'm considering getting one of each to wear while I exercise. I've seen mixed reviews of them but I think that because I'd be using it WHILE I exercise that they might be a good help.
[Any bad reviews seem to be coming from people who are expecting instant results and/or just wear them while they're sat watching tv]

If you're talking about the ab belt that basically shocks you, I've used it before. Made my abs pretty tired! lol I think you're right most people expect instant results and to get them with out cardio. Maybe you can find a place that will let you try for 30 days or something first?0

My missus used to use one - not sure it did her any good.
I think with most of these 'fitness' products, they only work if you eat healthily and do exercise... so basically, save your money and eat healthily and exercise!0 -
I've seen the "toning shorts" but basically, since I can't logically put it together in my head how it would possibly do anything more than the workout I would be doing in them... I saved my money. If someone has an explanation, I would sure love to hear it!! lol0

Thumbs down to magical as seen on TV devices.
Thumbs up to exercising more and eating smart.0 -

Sounds awful hard, and not exactly what the OP was looking for!
If you're implying that I don't want to exercise you obviously didn't read what I put.
I'd be wearing it WHILE I'm exercising.
I never said I didn't want to work out and eat well because I'm already doing so.
What I wanted to know is if it would give me an extra boost0 -
Even if it doesn't do magic to you physically, maybe it will give you a mental boost. Kind of like, every time you put them on, or when you think about how good you look in them, it may inspire you to do another 5 minutes of cardio or increase the resistance. I wear the skinny shirts, and they remind me that if I keep doing what I am doing, I will look like this without the skinny shirt. I dont know anything about the ab belt. I personally wouldnt use it, but Im not one to dock it til i try it.0

The theory behind the belts is sound, but the issue is that the devices you see on TV don't have a strong enough current to get through to the muscles. Since fat has a lot of water in it, if you have a layer of fat on top of your abs, the electrical impulses will be going through the fat instead of the muscles.
Many people have heard that Bruce Lee used electric muscle stimulation (EMS), which is true. However, he used pads connected to a control unit that had more power than the belts you see on TV, and the positive and negative leads are much farther apart than the belts can offer.
