Ok. Since we're just coming off the weekend, I was wondering what are some tricks that you guys use to get through Friday-Saturday-Sunday?

The weekend is particularly hard for me because everybody in the family is home.....While everyone is on their school/work schedule, I do pretty good, but on the weekend, I want to eat / drink ALL junk. This weekend, I still indulged some of my bad habits, but I just increased my exercise......

Anyone else?

  • I have the same problem. My husband likes to eat a lot of junk food. so this weekend I had to have a lot of self-control. The only way I got through the weekend was by working on my cross stitching. I was able to keep busy and pass the time. I also talked to my husband about helping me out by not eating junk food directly in front of me. I'm still trying to get him on board with me about not eating the junk food at all. And thankfully my children are still young enough that they eat whatever I put in front of them. so starting next grocery shopping trip we're going to try and find more healthy snacks that we all will like to eat.

Well I don't know if this helps at all, but you're not alone.

    Good Luck

Only way I do it is exercising more. I really should be able to control what goes into my own body. Sometimes making deals with yourself helps. Like: I can have 5 chips if I, go outside and run around the house/apartment block three times. Chances are, you really don't want those chips/candy/cookie that badly. If you still have trouble, trying yelling "I am a cookie monster" when running around the house.

The other trick is to "hide" the junk food. Out of sight, out of mind. I also thought of getting a combination safe and not knowing the combination.

look for things that he eats and but them in low calorie. like popcorn, he eats extreme butter i eat 94%fat free butter flavor. when he eats chocolate i make sugar free fat free pudding cups, with 2 tlbs of whip cream. if he eats a candy bar try a protien bar or granola bar. dont starve youself of the flavor just find healthy alternatives. or you can resort to what ive done. dont buy it. everyone in my house needs a lifestyle change. i have a 15 yr old and a 13 yr old aside from the husband. none of them like the change but i shop, i prepare, they eat or starve. also i try to make good for you comfort meals. like yesterday we had cheeseburgers with ff. 93/7 beef ,whole wheat buns, fat free cheese and baked french fries, made from real potatoes baked with olive oil and chopped garlic. or pizza everyone at my house loves pizza. whole wheat pita, pizza sauce, veggies, low fat cheese. satisfies the craving without clogging the arteries.

Weekends are just hard times for us. The Holidays in general were a body-weight roller coaster and weekends are just mini versions of that for me. I try to assume that I Will eat some "luxuries" but try very hard to not go too much overboard. I can usually get thru the day alright, but sometimes only with the promise of pizza in the evening. So, I let myself go ahead do that and live with the few ounces I might gain from it.

It's no big deal to me and I feel that if I make this whole endeavour too painful, I will not stick with it. All this stuff we talk about it being a lifestyle we can maintain means I search for that balance of "pleasure and pain" that will still get me to my goals.

I use one of my weekend days as a "Free" day where I can eat anything I want all day long. It helps let your body know that you are not starving.

I will have cookies or cake. I also like to go out for a seafood buffet or go have a huge steak. It all depends on my mood. I also like to have ice cream.

I use one day to not eat whatever I want all day long, but I can have something that I don't normally allow myself. For instance, I normally don't have chips so I might have a single serving bag of chips on Saturday with lunch. Or, ice cream...I'll have a bowl of ice cream. That way I can treat myself to something I really like but don't normally allow without going crazy. If I have a "free" day, I would surely go overboard and eat WAY too much!! So, I've found that my small "rewards" work for me!
    Good luck!

I do the shopping for the family which right now consists of me, hubby, (daughter and boyfriend while they are builing their house) so I control what comes into the house. Everyone gets one item they really want for junk food, I'm not a total shrew about it. But mostly we buy healthy so there isn't much to binge on because it is just not there. Mainly it's me telling myself I have to make good choices. I've found I do have willpower. Don't get me wrong there are days when I just have to have something, but for the most part I can just leave it. I try not to do alot of baking and it helps that my hubby doesn't have a sweet tooth.

Any thing that I want. Pizza, icecream, dounuts, bacon, any thing . Any you will still lose weight. the body is very complex. If all you ever eat is low calories then your body gets use to low calories. If you throw in extra calories now and then, your body will not think that it is starving.

Now don't fret if you weigh a pound or two the next day. It will mainly be due extra water retention from all the carbs and sodium, but a day back on your diet with lots of water will flush that from your system. Also it helps control your cravings during the week.

Live it like Mon-Thurs.-Healthy, and if you want the pizza or ice cream, have it. Just remember not a 1/2 gallon or a whole pizza. Enjoy life, just keep control.

Friday is my day to do this.

I have set aside Sunday for this. It makes a good ending to the week, and like Loretta said, I have to promise myself that I will get right on track starting Monday morning. I still eat whatever I want but I have discovered that there remains a small twinge of guilt :blushing: that prevents me from going completely overboard. After all, those calories are not really "free"! I still have to think about those calories the next day!! That also happens to be the day that I play Ultimate Frisbee every week. Find something fun to do so you know that you are going to still burn some calories but you don't have to do a workout.
    Good luck!:flowerforyou:

I hope all of you lose something like me this week. I am happy today. It makes it worth while when you stand on the scales and see why we put ourselves through not having our fave food!!

    Good Luck!

My wife and I will eat what were craving ONE MEAL per weekend we let our mood say when. We just know that at some point we will go crazy. This helps us because it's not so much telling ourselves we can't eat it's the power of saying yes we can. Some weekends we have just plain forgot to use our privilege. It's all about your mindset. As children we often want what we can't have and we consume our minds with ideas of how to get it. Do yourself a favor and be your own parent and give yourself the permission to reach into the cookie jar however remembering your mothers voice, "Just one Sally just one."
