Changing your goals...how often?

How often do you change your calorie intake goals with weight loss? And when you actually do change them how much each time?
I am currently on a custom setting of 1400 calories daily which I changed 2 weeks ago. Before lowering, I was set to around 1550 daily. Now I generally only eat 1200-1400 no matter what and before anyone tells me I am only eating bare minimum I have been diagnosed with PCOS and have to stay under 1600 calories. After exercise calories are accounted for I generally have a net calorie intake of 800-1200 calories. My main goals (dr opinions at hand) are staying under 1600 calories, 100 carbs and no more than 40 grams of sugar with extra protein and calcium.
So now that you know a little about my intake, what is your advice on changing?
I like the idea of zig zagging my calories but should I really be changing my calories every 2 weeks?
