I'm 22. I've been big since birth i havn't piled on the pounds in my teens or gained huge amounts of weight. I have a rare asthma condition which limits my exercise. BUT i do work out when i can even if it is a slow walk and i help around the house with chores as both parents work and my older brother is working and going back to university.

Before you ask no i can't work at the moment so i'm currently trying to fill my days with resting, exercise and finding ways to cope with my condition which can't be controlled at the moment and wont go a way with a quick fix of loosing weight. <-- it's NOT a weight issue

anyway thought i'd say a bit about me before i said this.

I've lost 45lb in just over a year ( i started weight watchers in july,2010 but found it too much for me to handle so found this app and ever since been following it since august 2010) Everyone else including my boyfriend and best friends can see the weight loss but I dont :/

But here it goes.. here's me in 2005 http://i342.photobucket.com/albums/o422/hidden-x/101-0107_IMG.jpg and heres me from 2 saturdays ago standing in my new mirror http://i342.photobucket.com/albums/o422/hidden-x/012.jpg

  • That is absolutely normal! PLEASE hang in there! It is so worth the journey! It is just that - a journey. I still have days where if I cheat a little bit - I feel like the 264 woman I used to be & that is not what I am. I am getting better about seeing the new me, & you will too. Accept their compliments and use it to push you forward! Friend me if you'd like - I've been in your shoes!!!

Do you have before and after pictures? Because we see ourselves everyday, we sometimes forget how we used to look and only see what's in front of us.

@kapeluza it's nto that i hate my body i just dont see the weight loss at the moment i guess it's hard to loose the fact that when i go for a weigh in at the hospital when i have a check up they say the weight loss is not enough but i know in my books it is.. it's just disheartening that doctors dont see that i AM trying.

but i don't hide away from my body my boyfriend loves me for me he has seen me at my worst and suffering with my condition but i still see the love in his eyes and know that too i have his support and together we are loosing the weight

Do you 'feel' your loss, is it any easier to do things you used to struggle with? 45lbs is a fantastic loss, don't be discouraged you've done fantastic and it takes some dedication to lose that much weight xxx

Hon, if you are consciously trying then that is ALL that matters. It's not going to happen overnight! As much as I wish these 50lbs would drop by tomorrow and even though I get irritated when I only see a 1 lb loss on the scale, I have to remind myself that I didn't get like this overnight and it's not going to go away over night. Just keep at it! Do it for your health! :)

My guess is that you are not noticing because you see yourself everyday :) I also read on your other post that you are only 5'1"...me too and unfortunately I think it takes more lbs to notice a loss and not too many to notice a gain for us short people :) My nutritionist/fitness coach says that it is 80-90 % about what you eat so don't worry too much if you are limited on exercise due to health concerns.
    I sent you a friend request :)
