Hey,

My neighbor's son has been getting hives for about a week now. I saw him today and he had a couple of them and then 1hour later he was full of them. He looked like a reptile. Very weird.
She took him to see an Allergy Specialist today and they couldn't test him because he has to take Antihistamines every day. The doctor said he had viral hives and it could last up to 6 weeks!!

Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

Ahem...sorry couldn't resist.....but seriously, no never heard of it. I used to break out in hives when I was younger...I'm allergic to caterpillars :ohwell: I used to pick them up and play with them cuz they were soft in fuzzy  But I would break out in hives....like really bad...bad enough for my eyes to swell shut. But never heard of viral hives. Poor kid......hope he feels better :flowerforyou:

This is the funniest but saddest story ever! I've never heard of anybody being allergic to caterpillars. When I was little, we used to get caterpillars infestations in the small town we lived in every 3 to 4 years. We'd ride our bikes and all you heard was "pop, pop, pop!"
You would have been a walking hive. :flowerforyou:

I don't know about viral hives, but I break out in hives when I am under extreme stress (like around Final Exams or extremely stressful family situations...)

    They HURT! Poor kiddo!

I mostly get them on my hands and arms, although I've gotten them on my tummy, back, legs, neck, chest...pretty much everywhere

The worst ones are the ones on your hands. BY FAR.

Yup its bad....disgusting......I used to work at Wendy's when I was like 16-17 and I refused to work the drive thru window because of those nasty things. The smell like fish sick.gif My supervisor always thought it was funny to catch one and throw it at me  :grumble:  That's up in Ohio right off the lake. They cover everything.

Hmmmmmmmm.....never leave? You do cook and clean, right? y_thinking.gif

Yup.....the doctor figured it had to be the caterpillars.....the only time I got the hives was when I was out playing with them. And then when I stopped playing with them after he told me that, they never came back. :ohwell: Must be something on them???? :ohwell: :noway:

I think that I am allergic to dead leaves............actually it might have been something in it!

But when I was little I jumped in a pile of leaves and like maybe the next day, I was covered in welps! The doc thought it was the dead leaves..... it got me out of raking leaves  Till this day I still rarely touch them b/c I hate breaking out and I break out so easily!

    Hope he feels better! :flowerforyou:
