Food Obsessed

I've been super good and consistent for about a month now, but all of a sudden (and probably not unrelated to hormones) I'm just FOOD OBSESSED. I can't stop thinking about eating/cooking/shopping/preparing/arranging/eating/eating/eating. I don't want to take an appetite suppressant, because I'm not physically hungry, but how do I get my mind off of all the stuff my body thinks it's missing?

I'm with you on this one. .And I'm not that hungry either, just always thinking about what the next meal/snack will be, how to plan it so it fits in my calories for the day. .And I feel like I'm living at the grocery store! I used to shop maybe once a week, now I'm there a few times a week just picking up fresh stuff. .Which I guess is a good thing. . Sorry, I don't really have a solution for you0

Oh gosh.. I have no idea. I've been doing this calorie concious thing for about a year now.. and it never goes away for me!! lol I drink water sometimes until I feel sick! That way.. the very thought of putting any food in my belly is negative.. =D0

I don't know. Sounds terrible. Sometimes I give into it and indulge (and look up fat free recipies and go on a cooking spree). Sometimes I exercise so I can eat what I want. And then sometimes, I just find things that I love more than food to think about and engage in (like visiting with friends, walking on the beach, hanky panky, etc.) This too shall pass. Maybe rent your favorite movie or plan to do something this weekend you really want.0

I was too, but when I started working out more, and my boyfriend start doing MFP, my obsession lessened. It's still there, but not as bad. Not sure if that's the answer, that's just what has been working for me.0

Working out for long periods of time has helped me lessen my obsession too. I've also started logging the majority of my meals the night before. I usually log in about 4/5 of my calories, estimate my exercise, then set aside that food for the next day. It takes the guessing and thinking out of my food.
When I'm having a really bad food-obsessed day, I practice intermediate fasting (which a lot of ppl on MFP will NOT agree with, btw). I don't eat for 14-16 hours, then break the intermediate fast with a NORMAL sized meal, not one to "make up" for the lost calories. I find myself super work-efficient during my short fasting time, since I'm not thinking about food, and by the time I start eating again, I know what it feels like to be hungry and can appreciate the taste of food when I'm actually eating. It's not for everyone, but it works well for me.0 -
Maybe you aren't eating enough. I found when I was REALLY restricting my calories my entire day revolved around food. I'm eating more now, so I'm satisfied more so my mind isn't so one tracked. Exercising of course helps counter balance the more food. HTH!0

I'm totally eating enough. And someone mentioned something about nutrients: I take vitamins and I'm a vegan so I'm super aware of my dietary needs. I just fantasize about food and food and foooooood.0
