Wow, a window into the "why" and good advice. I needed to read this today.

Awesome read, and just what I needed today. I've been behaving myself lately, no binging or anything, but just today, I had a waist measurement for a PT test. Normally, a PT test consistes of far more than just a waist measurement, but as I recently had knee surgery number 5, I'm on a profile and could only do the waist portion. I'd been utterly freaking out about it over the last few days, and now that it's done and I passed, I was thinking about having a big, calorie laden lunch. I'd told myself, "If I make it through this test, I'm going to have pizza for lunch". After reading this post, I had to stop and think about that choice... is it really going to do any good to 'reward' myself that way? Not likely, and instead, thinking like that is only going to make it just a stressful next time I have to do a PT test. So I'm going to have a nice tasty wrap for lunch with low cal dressing, and I'll feel much better about that in the long run!

Thank you for helpimg me stay on track!

Sometimes, these ah-ha moments change our lives forever.....let those tears out, because they're tears of realization. it's ok, and it's quite liberating!!! :)

This will definitely give me something to think about as I am often an emotional eater and don't think too much about what I am eating until the guilty feeling afterwards kicks in. Thank you so much for posting!

I am a binge eater and a person that feels terrible because she believes, in some way, thoughts are about the same as actions. Which is completely false. This was very helpful and real touched me. Thank you for that.

I did this last night. I resisted the vending machine at work all day, until I was on my way out the door. I bought a Snickers bar, furtively shoved it in my bag, and sat in the car and shoved the entire thing into my mouth. :( I'm going through a really difficult time right now, and Im pretty sure all I needed was a hug, but I didn't have anyone to give me one, so I let the Snickers give it to me. I think that's the first time I EVER tried to evaluate why I ate something...

I'm feeling very raw myself today and this was what I needed to read. I don't think I know how to be kind to myself, kind and tender...

and bump because I'm sure this won't be the last day I deal with these thoughts and emotions... although hopefully the last time I smother them in tasteless food...
