Ugh. Motivation to continue running

Anyone else have the problem that running is a challenege yet doesn't seem to burn as many calories as it is worth? lol. I am enjoying the challenge of getting used to running and I am slowly getting better but after a hard work out I am usually dissapointed with the amount of calories I burned from running where as something cardio usually burns more for me. I know that once I am up to doing a few miles a day it will be different but for the time being I am only buring 300 or so calories per run and am super exhausted after.

Let me give you a suggestion I received from Moefitt, who is my brother, a licensed personal trainer, and recently joined this site: slow down your pace and you may find that you will go farther.

Have you committed to signing up for a race yet? Having goal will make all the hard work worthwhile and make the training/effort go a little easier.
  • try to slow it down a bit, I mean walk 5 min. light effort for 10 min., perform your intense work out, 10 min light effort, followed by 5 min cool down walk. you burn more fat going slow (aerobic effort) when you go fast it is anerobic (burns carbs/lunch). take a bit more time or perhaps change it up through out the week.
