kielbasa white bean chili over potatoes

1 tablespoon olive oil
2 pounds kielbasa, quartered lengthwise and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, coarsely chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, coarsely chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2 (15 ounce) cans white kidney beans, drained
1 (14 ounce) can low sodium chicken broth
2 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon dried oregano
2 tablespoons brown sugar
heat olive oil in heavy large pot over medium-high heat. add kielbasa; saute until beginning to brown, about 12 minutes. remove from heat and place on paper towel. use a small amount of drippings to cook onions, bell peppers, and garlic. saute until beginning to brown, about 10 minutes. add beans, broth, tomatoes with juice, vinegar, chili powder, cumin and oregano. bring chili to a boil, stirring occasionally. reduce heat to medium, cover, and simmer 30 minutes. return kielbasa to pot. reduce heat to low. simmer, uncovered, until chili is thick, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. add brown sugar. serve over potatoes (or sweet potatoes). green onions and sour cream/plain yogurt made good toppings.
