Hello all! I'm new to here and after a week of keeping my food diary it's clear that my snacking and carb/sugar intake is what's really causing me problems. Apart from the usual fruit and veg stuff, what kinds of foods do you graze on if hungry between meals? Just after some ideas!! Thanks!!!

yum! Sounds great! Will try that! I'm not a huge nut fan but I'd rather eat them and get the protein than load full of sugar! Love the pic in your ticker too!0

cheese, hard boiled egg, almonds, roast soy beans, crab sticks0

I am the BIGGEST snacker! My family nicknamed me mad snacker... This has also been a challenge for me.. However, instead of chips and crackers, I have switched to peanuts, 1 Cup of Multi Grain Cheerios (I nibble on that throughout the day), and I hate rice cakes- but Quaker makes this Caramel Rice Cake and it is sooo good and its only 50 calories! I also eat a bag of the 100 Calorie popcorn when I am in a mood for a salty treat,,,,And I abolutely love these Veggie Crisps that they sale in the snack aisle... I buy them every now and then... However I have noticed that when I chew a peice of gum in between snacks and meals, I am content. So I always have gum on me. Sorry to ramble on....0

Those teeny wee boxes of Sunmaid raisins. You have to pick them out one at a time cos they're crammed in, means they're not all gone in one mouthful, lol!0

I have fresh fruit cut up and ready. Same with celery and carrots (with low fat dressing). My fav is 100 cal microwave popcorn. I often fill out my diary for the day in the morning to see where I am going to be by the end of the day. It tells me what I have left over for snacking.0

Be careful with the peanuts, there are a LOT of calories in them... I started eating them when I gave up smoking in 2007, BIG mistake!0

low fat cheese stick, sugar free jello or pudding, yoplait yogurt, quaker life bars, and my favorite fruits are nectarines and cherries. Also Weight Watchers has a great guacamole recipe.0

cheerios are good
dried banana chips, prunes, nuts
cold boiled eggs (i boil a heap up and leave them in the fridge for when i'm starving, they really make you feel full)
rice crackers (they are really salty, but better than potato chips/crisps)
sliced meat (i buy those prepackaged vacuum sealed ones from the supermarket, 50g in a packet and eat them instead of munching on junk)0 -
Apples work for me....most of the time!0

great ideas everyone!!! I'm making a shopping list and will be making a little trip to the shops in the morning to try and break the bad habit I've gotten into!! I know I'm always gunna be a "grazer" but I guess swapping to something more healthy and with more nutritional value (plus cutting down the serving size) will all help!0

popcorn fills me up really good also digestives & iced tea0

Seaweed crisps work for me - 70 cal per serving.0

I actually tend to stay away from anything too sugary when snacking unless it's an after dinner snack. I snack on cottage cheese, unsalted nuts, Nature Valley Oat and Honey granola bars (which are yummy and SUPER filling.)0
-
macadamia nut clif bars for when the sweet tooth strikes, pecans, grapes, peaches, basically any fruit, but i also like raisins and sharp cheddar cheese,
if im craving super sweet, i grab a rice kripies treat, they're 90 cal! lol0
